upcoming lkp dates!

Wahoo!  Happy Halloween!  We’re so looking forward to a great Halloween weekend with 2 great gigs that should be up for 2 of the best nights of the year.  We love Halloween, and love to come up with cool themes for the band to dress up in, and really love to see what everyone else comes up with in the audience.  From look- alikes last year, through Rocky Horror, Braveheart, Gillgan’s island, Austin Powers, pimps and ho’s, all the way back to the first year of the band, we have always looked at Halloween as a day to have fun, and enjoy the creativity of the season.  This year is a little different, going with a Christmas theme, and we all will be your favorite characters from and around the island of misfit toys!  Guess who we each will be!  We look forward to our first time in the Underground in St. Johnsbury, VT on Friday night, and know that it will be a blast.  Saturday is our second year for the annual Halloween masquerade party at the Newport, NH opera house.  We’ll be cutting it up at both places, and hopefully we’ll see some great costumes that win some great prizes!  See you all there!

On a less of a happy note, after 2 ½ years with the band, Bill has decided that work schedules, life schedules and band schedules had to give somewhere, and he has given his notice with the kid.  Bill will be playing out the time it will take us to find a replacement, and may even come back from time to time to do some fill ins on bass, keys, hey, maybe even guitar!  Bill will be missed, and we hope that the time he needs for his other endeavors will allow him to accomplish all of his goals.  Please check out his blog on the website to see what directions he is going in, and to pass along any thoughts to Bill.  With Bill moving on, we will be actively pursuing replacements, so if you know of any extremely talented, multi instrumental, AC/DC singing people, send them our way!

We can’t say enough good things about fun Halloween parties, and we love the fact that the Newport Opera House has become our regular gig for the holiday.  This room is an old style opera house with a flat floor, and no fixed seating. So, this means we can have café style tables with a huge dance floor, and then fixed seating in the balcony. There are no bad seats in this venue, and it is the largest stage that we play on.  We love this room, and all the coolness that comes with playing on a big stage with a huge crowd.  Check out the link from our website to the opera house site for additional details.  Tickets for this event are $12 in advance, and $14 at the door.  Great prizes, fun and hilarity are sure to be part of the deal.  As another part of this “local” gig for me, we like to take the time to support our local friends in the restaurant business and give them a few plugs.  If you are coming up to play with us, please consider a couple of our friends for dinner – no Hannibal Lecter references here – at the Old Courthouse and the Eagle Tavern.   The Old Courthouse is a casual fine dining establishment that is about 50 feet from the opera house, and serves up some fantastic food.  Check out this week’s bill of fare at their website – www.eatatthecourthouse.com. If you bring a carved pumpkin for their front lawn, and add to the many pumpkins that are there, they will give you a free dessert with your dinner!  Pretty cool!  Our next friend on the street is the Eagle Tavern, which is about 100 yards from the opera house.  The Eagle is a newly renovated building that has a restaurant, and bar that we occasionally play in.  The food variety is greatly varied to satisfy most any taste, and the atmosphere is casual.  Check them out at www.eagletavern.net. As always, please remember to tip your bartenders and wait staff, they always take great care of you!

The hardest part ...

Hi everyone, Bill here!

I regret to announce that I will be leaving Last Kid Picked in the near future. The bands’ busy schedule has made it difficult to maintain my role as bassist/keyboardist along with my work outside the band. I was a fan first of Last Kid Picked and look forward to seeing the band live and working with them in the future perhaps in a different role.

With my newfound spare time, I plan to learn to play the ‘oud’, greet customers at Wal-Mart and cure the world of all known diseases. Be sure to track my progress on these and other unachievable goals at www.billedmondson.com.

Thanks for everyone’s support these past 2 ½ years and I hope to see you at the clubs!

Durka Durka ‘n stuff,

Bill

Give Charlene a big kiss!

Even though we do cover a lot of ground, the band hasn’t made it to sunny California. So I need to ask a favor to anyone located in Northern California that may be reading this...

If you run into a sexy, buxom redhead out there named Charlene, please give her a big, wet kiss and tell her LKP sent you.

By the way, Charlene has a preference for Irishmen. If you’re half Irish, she might be half interested!

XOXO,

Bill and LKP

upcoming lkp dates!

Well, I guess you could call it another fun one that just plain flew by this past weekend, all the crazies were out up in Newport, and the Brimmer just plain rocked!  The dancing and carrying on amazes me, when the weather is doing some crazy things outside!  I think I saw Noah go by on Sunday morning on my ride home!  Special thanks to Louis for making it out after his shoulder surgery, and spending part of the night with us.  Enjoy the Morphine, or whatever they are giving you and heal up soon!  I would have thought that the only thing interested in being out on Saturday was a duck, but there were more than ducks out playing with us!  It must have just made sense to get to the club, and then stay there, which meant that it got crazy busy, and never changed until closing time.  We are always amazed at how fast the night goes by at the Brimmer, because it’s over before we know it!  Well, we’ve got another busy one this week, so let’s get into it!

This week includes the closing party at the Anchorage in Sunapee on Thursday, another single shot at Whippersnappers on Friday, and a return to the Outback up in West Stew on Saturday.  With the travel on the rainy side, we’ll take the weekend in stride, and see if there are any leaves left to peep at by the end of the weekend.  Get ready for Halloween, it’s coming soon, and we’ve got a couple of fun ones to look forward to.  Check out the advanced schedule online and come play with us in Newport for our official Halloween party.  If you’ve never been to this room, it’s a great place to see us play, and a great place to dance.  It has the biggest dance floor that we play in front of, and some fantastic local restaurants to fill up at.  Make a weekend of it, and come to the sunshine town!  Their name, not mine!  Here come the awards and official dates, so enjoy the rain, and dance all days, love.

This week’s awards go to:

The hospitality award goes to the North Newport Hilton, for their deluxe accommodations, and fantastic continental breakfast.  Hey, where’s my mint!

The stealth award goes to the state liquor commission for saying that they were going to be all over the Brimmer, and being very invisible in our estimation.  Thanks for letting us have fun!

The duck award goes to John from John’s hot dogs, for braving the weather, and serving up some mean food outside the Brimmer every time we play!

The “too beaucoup” award goes to the band truck for being oversize for help from AAA.  Tensioner pulley – 1, LKP – 0.

The AAA award goes to Patten’s trucking and towing for lifting the behemoth, and getting it to where I could fix it.

The ouch, baby award goes to Patten’s as well for $152/hour. But they have the tools and the talent!

And Grappone Ford in Concord gets the in stock award!

Yes, another weekend of truck issues, Keith.  So much for buying used!
