upcoming lkp dates!

Wahoo!  Happy Halloween!  We’re so looking forward to a great Halloween weekend with 2 great gigs that should be up for 2 of the best nights of the year.  We love Halloween, and love to come up with cool themes for the band to dress up in, and really love to see what everyone else comes up with in the audience.  From look- alikes last year, through Rocky Horror, Braveheart, Gillgan’s island, Austin Powers, pimps and ho’s, all the way back to the first year of the band, we have always looked at Halloween as a day to have fun, and enjoy the creativity of the season.  This year is a little different, going with a Christmas theme, and we all will be your favorite characters from and around the island of misfit toys!  Guess who we each will be!  We look forward to our first time in the Underground in St. Johnsbury, VT on Friday night, and know that it will be a blast.  Saturday is our second year for the annual Halloween masquerade party at the Newport, NH opera house.  We’ll be cutting it up at both places, and hopefully we’ll see some great costumes that win some great prizes!  See you all there!

On a less of a happy note, after 2 ½ years with the band, Bill has decided that work schedules, life schedules and band schedules had to give somewhere, and he has given his notice with the kid.  Bill will be playing out the time it will take us to find a replacement, and may even come back from time to time to do some fill ins on bass, keys, hey, maybe even guitar!  Bill will be missed, and we hope that the time he needs for his other endeavors will allow him to accomplish all of his goals.  Please check out his blog on the website to see what directions he is going in, and to pass along any thoughts to Bill.  With Bill moving on, we will be actively pursuing replacements, so if you know of any extremely talented, multi instrumental, AC/DC singing people, send them our way!

We can’t say enough good things about fun Halloween parties, and we love the fact that the Newport Opera House has become our regular gig for the holiday.  This room is an old style opera house with a flat floor, and no fixed seating. So, this means we can have café style tables with a huge dance floor, and then fixed seating in the balcony. There are no bad seats in this venue, and it is the largest stage that we play on.  We love this room, and all the coolness that comes with playing on a big stage with a huge crowd.  Check out the link from our website to the opera house site for additional details.  Tickets for this event are $12 in advance, and $14 at the door.  Great prizes, fun and hilarity are sure to be part of the deal.  As another part of this “local” gig for me, we like to take the time to support our local friends in the restaurant business and give them a few plugs.  If you are coming up to play with us, please consider a couple of our friends for dinner – no Hannibal Lecter references here – at the Old Courthouse and the Eagle Tavern.   The Old Courthouse is a casual fine dining establishment that is about 50 feet from the opera house, and serves up some fantastic food.  Check out this week’s bill of fare at their website – www.eatatthecourthouse.com. If you bring a carved pumpkin for their front lawn, and add to the many pumpkins that are there, they will give you a free dessert with your dinner!  Pretty cool!  Our next friend on the street is the Eagle Tavern, which is about 100 yards from the opera house.  The Eagle is a newly renovated building that has a restaurant, and bar that we occasionally play in.  The food variety is greatly varied to satisfy most any taste, and the atmosphere is casual.  Check them out at www.eagletavern.net. As always, please remember to tip your bartenders and wait staff, they always take great care of you!
