lkp upcoming dates

I’m not sure why I waited to do the news this week, but after receiving an email last night from my dad, it made sense. He forwarded me an article from the Stowe Reporter discussing the Boston Bruins and their time spent in Stowe training and relaxing as they were getting ready for this season. One of the things mentioned in the article was:

Bruins invade the Nail

After a muddy day in the woods, the Boston Bruins canceled practice on Saturday and went on a different kind of excursion.

The team — reportedly at the suggestion of goalie Tim Thomas, who played for the University of Vermont — went out to the Rusty Nail nightclub in Stowe.

Fans got a chance to rub shoulders with their favorite players and the Bruins looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves and the band, Last Kid Picked.

Many players huddled around the television to watch the baseball pennant races unfold on ESPN. You could hear a cheer late in the night, when the New York Yankees lost in extra innings to give the Boston Red Sox the American League East division title.

When the house lights went on at closing time, at about 2 a.m., many of the players were still having a good time. A Peg’s Pickup van took the late-partying players back to Topnotch Resort, where the team stayed during its time in Stowe.

Yes, the Bruins were at the Nail with us on Friday. About 350 to 400 people were there as well. It was a madhouse, and a lot of fun. I hope that the Nail had some stuff to sell on Saturday, because it was cleaned out. What a blast. The funny thing is, basketball players are usually tall, football players are usually big (or at least some of them) – hockey players tend to blend in to the crowd. Other than the steady stream of beer, and curious people, it could have been anybody. They were very cool, had nothing but nice things to say, and proved that they are professional athletes that deserve to be respected. One of the wait staff came up to me and said that they had just seen one of the coolest things they had ever witnessed in a bar/restaurant. It seems that there was a table of people with a few cadets from Norwich University. A table of 7 or 8 having dinner, and the Bruins (one or more, I’m not sure) picked up their tab. A nice gesture if I may say so for some people in uniform. These guys showed that they have not let their stature go to their head. Thanks for hanging with us, and hopefully having as much fun as we did!

After a great night at the nail, it was another blast as we hit the stage at the Yard. Again, a great crowd, with a couple of weddings, a divorce/birthday party, and who knows what else thrown in. We had a great time and we’ll be back in November to the Yard for some more fun. Special thanks to Keith for the LKP picks. We were out of stock on them, and had to play with plain old guitar picks for a while! We hope the trip back to CT wasn’t too stressful.

This weekend, we’ll be back at Whippersnappers for the first time in a long time. I hope that all of you who had fun with us in Londonderry can make it out to play with us tonight! It should be a great time, and we’re just a curious to see what the new owners have done to the place! So get out and join us for the return to Whips tonight! We’ll be back there more this fall, and we’ll see what happens into the new year!

Speaking of fall, we are doing 3 Halloween parties, as far as I know. Newport opera house on the 20th, tickets are going fast. Contact the Newport opera house through our website to get tix. Then, we’ll be at the Sky Lounge on the 26th. This will be our first time in Nashua, and we’re looking forward to playing this room. Very cool layout, and should be a blast. I’ll have more details on this next week. Then finally, we’ll be doing up Halloween at the Red Blazer in Concord on the 27th. We’ll be one of 2 bands, plus a dj. We’ll be set up in the dining room, so there’ll be a bigger dance floor, and more room to fit your costume! Tickets are on sale at the Blazer, so contact them soon to lock your plans down! We’ll be donning some cool costumes for this one, so get ready!

This week’s awards go to:

The inundation situation goes to the Bruins at the Nail. What a huge crowd. We’ll play with you guys any time! maybe you can help me with my right turn crossovers on skates. I suck at those!

The birthday girl award goes to Kate, too bad you didn’t have much time to celebrate since the bar was so busy!

The stand in wife award goes to Jen. I hope your husband doesn’t mind you trying to get into clubs as a band member’s wife, and I hope my wife doesn’t mind one of Keith’s friends telling everyone that we’re married!

The pick of the night award goes to Keith. Thanks again for the cool pix, and we’ll be setting up plans for the winter season!

And the narcolepsy award goes to me, I was the first to tap out at the end of the night on Friday.
