lkp upcoming dates

Back to it, as they say. We had a Friday off, and then a wild Saturday. It never ceases to amaze me. The Newport Opera House is almost always packed. The week early Halloween bash was sold out. Great costumes, great fun, and lots of laughs. I forget why, but the best overall costume award went to US. I guess that means that you all need to come out and see them this Saturday at the Red Blazer! But, before you do that, we need your support to start off our new club with a bang. Friday night is our debut at the Sky Lounge in Nashua. Please check out directions and general stuff at www.skyloungenh.com. This place should be a blast to play, and a great place to see a band. Lots of elevated locations to look down on the dance floor, and lots of dance space! We’re looking forward to this one, not only because it is a new club in a new town, but because it looks like it’s going to fit with us very well. Please take a ride and check out things on the Nashua side of life on Friday, and help us start this off with a bang!

After a cranking Friday, we’ll be lucky to survive the wild party that is the Red Blazer for Halloween. It’s us in the dining room, Chafed in the Bar, and a DJ upstairs. This was sold out last year, and should be as well this year. Tix are $20 and there are tons of great prizes for all the costumes. Well worth the price of admission for a night of madness on the craziest night of the year! Contact the Blazer for more information.

Let’s see, Dorothy, Varitek, a 6 foot pierced representation of the female anatomy, and the Village People walk into a bar… that’s what the base was for the NOH Halloween party. There were a ton of great costumes, and a lot of fun to be had. How about a couple of awards just to make it complete!

The potential molestation award goes to the “Twister” dress. Um, left hand – Yellow!

The bitch award goes to the gaggle of “biatches” and their potential wrangler. Quite a posse, I must say….

The patience award goes to the bar line most of the night. It’s so funny to see a line of people waiting for cocktails across the entire back of the room!

The odd combo award goes to Jed and my wig. Hot, isn’t it?

And the narcolepsy award goes to all of us by the end of the night.

I just wanted to add a little side note of thanks to Melissa, our web mistress (don’t blame her, I haven’t sent her any pictures out of my piece of crap camera). She and hubby Bobby made the trek from western NC to Charlotte to visit with us for a couple of hours last Sunday. Thanks for the drive, and getting us back to the airport on time. My cousin Mike and his wife, Leigh had a fantastic christening for their recently adopted daughter Mary. We made it down for the festivities so that I could be a godfather, just in time to let it be known that Amanda is due in April, and I’m going to be a real father! So, the cat is now out of the bag, the kid is having a kid. We’re completely excited, and we’ll see if it makes me grow up or not. Probably not, but who’d like it if I didn’t act like a seven year old? We’ll keep everyone up to date as things progress!

In other news, there will be a benefit on Sunday, November 11 at Goodfellas in Laconia for the Vayda family. This event will run from noon to 8 pm with a minimum $10 donation. There will be 4 or more bands including LKP, as well as a sports memorabilia auction. We should be playing around the 6 o clock hour, but please come out earlier and support a good cause. Check out the press release on the LKP website for full details. Thanks to Gifford Campbell from Lulu’s in crisis- as well as several other bands from the Boston area – for coordinating this event. We’ll be there, and I hope that a bunch of you can make it out to have some fun and support the cause. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

lkp upcoming dates

Well a weekend off for a baptism in NC, and we’re back into it this weekend. Tonight is a night off. Too bad the Lowell Brewery decided against bands. It would have been fun. We’ll be cranking it up at the Newport opera house Saturday night for an early Halloween party. If next weekend is too busy, come out this Saturday and wear your best disguise! We’re looking forward to it, and we’ll hopefully see you there.

Updates after a week off sometimes slip my mind, so if I forget anything, I’m sorry. The return to whips was a blast. Even though we were up against the sox game, we still had a lot of dancers, and the fun was everywhere. It was so great to see so many familiar faces, as well as a lot of new ones there, we’ll be back soon and have some more fun. Mamma, we miss you, and you need to come dance with us! It sounds like Whips is looking forward and there may be some huge changes to the layout there. If I let the cat out of the bag, I’m sorry and I’ll apologize on the larger dance floor later! The wedding we played on Saturday was a blast, we had such a great time and have the bruises to prove it! especially jason! You’ll just have to ask him….

As I mentioned, we’re in Newport, NH for the early Halloween party this Saturday. We will be in Nashua at the Sky Lounge next Friday, and this is NOT a costume party. We’ll debut the room without our costumes, and try to be a little less obtrusive by saving the costumes for the next night. If you are in the Nashua area, I’d love to pack this place and show them a great LKP crowd. If you have never been, it is a very cool bar with a balcony facing the dance floor, multiple bars, and couches, etc. for lounging. Clean, upscale and fun, so, one out of three for us ain’t bad! We’re looking forward to this room becoming a regular thing, so please come out and support live music in another cool room. We’ll be the ones with the lights pointed at us.

Saturday is our second Halloween bash. This one is sat the 27th at the Red Blazer in Concord. 2 bands, a dj, 3 rooms with tons of entertainment and a bunch of prizes for costumes. This one is going to be fun. If you think the dance floor is small at the Blazer, we’ll be set up in the dining room, and it’s not going to be small any more. We should have an interesting time in the larger room, and it means we can bring the whole show in! contact the Blazer for tickets and come have a great Halloween with us!

So, that is all the news that I can think of for now. No awards, because I can’t think of any right now.

lkp upcoming dates

I’m not sure why I waited to do the news this week, but after receiving an email last night from my dad, it made sense. He forwarded me an article from the Stowe Reporter discussing the Boston Bruins and their time spent in Stowe training and relaxing as they were getting ready for this season. One of the things mentioned in the article was:

Bruins invade the Nail

After a muddy day in the woods, the Boston Bruins canceled practice on Saturday and went on a different kind of excursion.

The team — reportedly at the suggestion of goalie Tim Thomas, who played for the University of Vermont — went out to the Rusty Nail nightclub in Stowe.

Fans got a chance to rub shoulders with their favorite players and the Bruins looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves and the band, Last Kid Picked.

Many players huddled around the television to watch the baseball pennant races unfold on ESPN. You could hear a cheer late in the night, when the New York Yankees lost in extra innings to give the Boston Red Sox the American League East division title.

When the house lights went on at closing time, at about 2 a.m., many of the players were still having a good time. A Peg’s Pickup van took the late-partying players back to Topnotch Resort, where the team stayed during its time in Stowe.

If you would like to read the rest of the article, please check it out at: http://news.mywebpal.com/news_tool_v2.cfm?show=localnews&pnpID=999&NewsID=842992&CategoryID=18256&on=1

Yes, the Bruins were at the Nail with us on Friday. About 350 to 400 people were there as well. It was a madhouse, and a lot of fun. I hope that the Nail had some stuff to sell on Saturday, because it was cleaned out. What a blast. The funny thing is, basketball players are usually tall, football players are usually big (or at least some of them) – hockey players tend to blend in to the crowd. Other than the steady stream of beer, and curious people, it could have been anybody. They were very cool, had nothing but nice things to say, and proved that they are professional athletes that deserve to be respected. One of the wait staff came up to me and said that they had just seen one of the coolest things they had ever witnessed in a bar/restaurant. It seems that there was a table of people with a few cadets from Norwich University. A table of 7 or 8 having dinner, and the Bruins (one or more, I’m not sure) picked up their tab. A nice gesture if I may say so for some people in uniform. These guys showed that they have not let their stature go to their head. Thanks for hanging with us, and hopefully having as much fun as we did!

After a great night at the nail, it was another blast as we hit the stage at the Yard. Again, a great crowd, with a couple of weddings, a divorce/birthday party, and who knows what else thrown in. We had a great time and we’ll be back in November to the Yard for some more fun. Special thanks to Keith for the LKP picks. We were out of stock on them, and had to play with plain old guitar picks for a while! We hope the trip back to CT wasn’t too stressful.

This weekend, we’ll be back at Whippersnappers for the first time in a long time. I hope that all of you who had fun with us in Londonderry can make it out to play with us tonight! It should be a great time, and we’re just a curious to see what the new owners have done to the place! So get out and join us for the return to Whips tonight! We’ll be back there more this fall, and we’ll see what happens into the new year!

Speaking of fall, we are doing 3 Halloween parties, as far as I know. Newport opera house on the 20th, tickets are going fast. Contact the Newport opera house through our website to get tix. Then, we’ll be at the Sky Lounge on the 26th. This will be our first time in Nashua, and we’re looking forward to playing this room. Very cool layout, and should be a blast. I’ll have more details on this next week. Then finally, we’ll be doing up Halloween at the Red Blazer in Concord on the 27th. We’ll be one of 2 bands, plus a dj. We’ll be set up in the dining room, so there’ll be a bigger dance floor, and more room to fit your costume! Tickets are on sale at the Blazer, so contact them soon to lock your plans down! We’ll be donning some cool costumes for this one, so get ready!

This week’s awards go to:

The inundation situation goes to the Bruins at the Nail. What a huge crowd. We’ll play with you guys any time! maybe you can help me with my right turn crossovers on skates. I suck at those!

The birthday girl award goes to Kate, too bad you didn’t have much time to celebrate since the bar was so busy!

The stand in wife award goes to Jen. I hope your husband doesn’t mind you trying to get into clubs as a band member’s wife, and I hope my wife doesn’t mind one of Keith’s friends telling everyone that we’re married!

The pick of the night award goes to Keith. Thanks again for the cool pix, and we’ll be setting up plans for the winter season!

And the narcolepsy award goes to me, I was the first to tap out at the end of the night on Friday.

lkp upcoming dates

This past weekend was a quiet one for LKP, with just one wedding on Saturday, but that wedding more than made up for it being the only gig of the weekend. Congrats to Angela and Eddie, and thanks for letting us join you for the festivities. We had a blast, and I hope that you all did as well. After this “slow” weekend, we’re heading right back into it, and getting into fall with a flourish. This weekend, we’ll be back at the Nail on Friday (happy birthday, Kate. I’m already working on the song for you) and then returning to the Yard in Manchester on Saturday. The Yard should be one for the record books. All you family crazies and Connecticut crazies, we’ll introduce you to the NH crazies Saturday night!

In other news, if you have been checking the online schedule to see where we’re going to be, there are some old friends, and some new clubs, and unfortunately some changes. Whippersnappers – yes, we’re back on Friday, October 5th. Unfortunately, the Lowell Brewery has decided to not do bands at this time on the second floor. I’m a little bummed about this one, because the room looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. So, we won’t be in Lowell. The Sky Lounge in Nashua is a go, and we’re looking forward to this one. This room looks like it will be some serious fun and we’re getting stoked up for it. we’ll be starting off this new location on the Friday of Halloween weekend (26th). Those are the updates on the schedule as of right now. We’re looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones as we head to Londonderry and Nashua.

Here are some quick awards

The fine vittles award goes to the Woodstock Inn, which put out quite the spread at the wedding.

The cat with a cigar award goes to me. I certainly know why I don’t smoke – because I suck at it, and look stupid doing it.

The repeat award goes to Ed and crew. You successfully got us to repeat a song at a gig. Don’t expect it to happen again.

The butt saver award goes to Amanda. Thanks for making the drive with that stupid power supply that I forgot!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all of us after a long day of fun!
