lkp upcoming dates

Well, a busy week last week, along with some messed up back muscles kept me from my duly appointed rounds at the computer. My lack of effort thankfully did not stop all the crazies from coming out up in maine to play with us at the matterhorn! To recap a couple of weeks, snow got the best of us on Friday in Manchester, so we kicked it up a notch on Saturday in stowe. Tons of people, and a great time. Pix coming thanks to our good buddy Kris Hansen, who shutterbugged his way through a sea of people and got some great shots. My spring resolution is to get more pix up and work on keeping the website more updated. Y’all have had some good ideas, and we’ll be implementing them as the weeks pass. Last weekend at the matterhorn reminded us of why we like playing there – great crowd energy, and a lot of familiar faces to keep us happy. We had a blast and we’ll be back there…Saturday to finish up the season!

This weekend is a road trip to keep us happy. We’ll be at Gusto’s tomorrow night, and then back at the Matterhorn to finish up ski season with a bang! We highly recommend coming out and having fun. So, get your galoshes out for mud season, and get in the buggy, and get yourself out to have some fun!

The awards for the past couple of weeks:

The persistence award goes to Jamie, although we never played the song. We just plain ran out of time!

The aforementioned photog award goes to Kris for his high wire photo activity.

The thanks a bunch award goes to Rusty’s towing. We were so close to being home when we blew a spark plug. New one for me, I’ll skip it next time, thanks.

The crazy dancing award goes to the bar and wait staff at the Matterhorn. Come and see if you want to know!

And the narcolepsy award goes to Eric, who probably needed the sleep after last weekend.

lkp dates

Friday morning quarterback it is. I have been really bad about it this week. After a winter of making it through without a serious cold, I have been a good boy and put this one almost entirely to sleep, although it has meant that I have been sleeping more to get rid of it! Due to the nasty nature of head colds, I decided to take it easier on myself so I’d have something for St. Patty’s weekend! We’re so looking forward to playing at the Brimmer and the Nail this weekend, that the snow will stay out of our way, and make both nights a blast. Get your green on and get out to play!

The terrible news of Brad Delp passing was delivered to us at the end of the night at Electra on Friday. Having done sound for Brad and most of the other members of Boston at Electra a couple of years ago for a Vermont State Trooper benefit, it was odd and brought back a lot of memories of that night, and the gentle individual that was one of the hardest voices in rock to try and copy. As many of the other singers of the 70’s, 80’s and on have gotten older and dropped the keys of the songs that they sing, only Brad and Steven Tyler stand out as the two that can still hit it like they did back in the day. The small amount of time that I got to spend hanging out with him proved to me the type of person he was – genuine and kind. He asked if we did any Boston tunes and I emphatically stated no, I can’t hit your vocal parts! He replied with, “yeah, I know, everybody hates me”. I think the word should have been envy not hate, but he was far too down to earth to think that anybody envied him. He had a gift that was not easily matched, and his passing leaves a pretty big void in the realm of singers who just plain know how to lay it down. We hope that he is at peace now, with what ever demons he was fighting. You will be missed, and never forgotten.

With that being said, it is inspirational performers like BD that make us try harder when we hit the stage. Never phone it in, never leave without giving it your all. The energy coming off the floor up to the stage makes it all worth while. We thrive on the energy of the room, and thankfully get a lot of energy from all of you. With a holiday weekend on the bill, and a bunch of great natured foolish people ready to have a blast, I hope we can all make it a night to go down in the record books. We’ll see you there, and keep the smiles and good cheer going!

Last week’s awards go to:

The evil auto award goes to 2 cylinders down in the band truck. Thanks to John at Auto serv in tilton for the quick fix.

The stellar service award goes to Nugget, who always takes care of us with a smile and a laugh.

The phantom DJ award goes to Eric G for mixing us through the second break at Electra.

The odd signing award goes to all of us signing a thong. Not much room for you guys with big signatures!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all that got to catch up on a busy week on Sunday on the couch.

lkp upcoming dates

Sorry for the late arrival of the email this week, but my fingers were frozen, there was a terrible flood, hordes of locusts! It wasn’t my fault! OK, that out of the way, we had an interesting weekend at Deegan’s Den. Oh, yeah, interesting night, since they cancelled Friday at the last minute. Well, these things sometimes happen, and we took it in stride and used the time to move the freakin’ snow that dropped. So I guess that was a plus instead of having to travel in it. we had a great time with the folks that came to play with us, and we’ll probably see you next year, if you come to another bar to see us. I guess the bitter side is coming out of me because of all the fun places we play, and then the attitude that was dropped in my lap definitely made my mind up (more in the awards – see below). All of that did not change the fact that the 4 of us still had a great time playing, and there were plenty of fun kids to hang out with.

This week sees us back at Electra after a long hiatus. So, get your buns to the upper valley and kick of Friday night with us for a little fun. Some day job obligations got in the way of Saturday night this week, so we’ll be doing another single this weekend. We promise 2 full weekend nights next week at the Brimmer for Friday, and the Rusty Nail for St. Patty’s!

This week, the awards go to:

Eric, Cassidy and the boys for setting us up before the doors even opened with the liquid refreshment award!

The good guy stuck in a bad situation award goes to Bob. Thanks for all that you do with sound when we’re in mt. Snow.

The management skills award goes to the restaurant manager at Deegan’s. You attract more flies with sugar than vinegar, sweetheart. When you start off the conversation like you did, you can guarantee that I have no respect for you as a manager, and your actions on Saturday night have probably made Saturday, February 3 the last date we ever play at Deegan’s. I hope you learn a thing or 2 or 200, because you screwed the pooch and proved your lack of EVERYTHING. Pound sand, peaches.

The parenting award goes to the 15 dads and their 20 screaming boys that had dinner in the bar on Saturday night. Wow, I never knew that so many could have so little control over so many. Redefines the word annoying. I felt sorry for the poor waitress who had to deal with you, and I hope you tipped her extra, although I doubt you had the class to.

And on an up note, the narcolepsy award goes to me for sleeping my way through the back roads of Vermont. I’m sure glad I made it home in time to nap!

Hey, every once in a while the planets align and the baggadouches are out in force. I’ll just have to assume it was a one time thing and we’ll take our time in revisiting “the age of precarious”.

Be well,
