I always have a hard time explaining some of the cool gigs we do, and try to make it sound like a blast without incriminating anyone. Well, Friday night was the birthday party for the ages. Not the largest crowd we’ve ever played to, but maybe the most enthusiastic! We’d like to thank all of the pole dancers for strutting their stuff, and the “dimple shots”, although I never got one! We had a great time and hopefully made the party a success. For those of you that were there, thanks, and for those that weren’t, we’ll catch you at it next time! After Friday, we probably needed a night off, so we were part of the “all star” jam that was at the Brimmer on Saturday. We got to do some tunes that none of the other bands would probably do, and had a great time doing it. There are few chances a year that we get to play with other bands, we’re usually all out playing the circuit and rarely cross paths when it is playtime. So, the chance to see a few other bands, cross some paths and have a good time is always a good thing. We had some fun and then headed out for some serious holiday driving to see all the relatives and pack a few more miles on the old family truckster. We hope that everyone’s Christmas was a fun one and gave you the chance to visit with friends and loved ones, and get a chance to take a breath before 2007 jumps in our lap! This weekend is the culmination of a year of gigs with 3 of our faves – Gusto’s Friday, the Brimmer Saturday and the Newport opera house for new years on Sunday night. I’m sure that we’ll be ready for a nap by Monday, and we’ll just have to wait until then to get some sleep! Gusto’s and the Brimmer are always fun, but we’re looking forward to the new years bash. It’s our first time running the whole party and things should be a blast! We love the room, we’ve sold most of the tickets but still have a few left for those who have been dragging their feet! Typically the opera house holds about 300 for events like Halloween, but with no big costumes, we can fit more people in! so, the tickets we have left will bring us up to max capacity, and we’ll take it from there. We’ve got the party favors ready, the hors d’oeuvres are planned and ready, and all the other fun stuff is set to go. If you haven’t made up your mind and would still like to come, we will be accepting online payment to reserve the last tickets, and then hold them at the door. Don’t miss the chance to ring in the new year with the kid, it looks like it’ll be a doozey!
On a side note, Kyle is celebrating his birthday tomorrow night (thurs) at whips in Londonderry. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to tell, but it’s also Tim T and Rob Gourlay on stage at whips on Thursday night, so we figured we’d celebrate with some fine music and ring in K-flew’s bday with a bang and some rippin’ tunes. Come out and play if you get a chance, it’s a great way to make yourself completely worthless at work on Friday!
I’ve been thinking about awards and I’ll keep it simple for this week so we can have a recap next week of the best of 2006 and the weekend.
The navigator award goes to yours truly for Friday night’s extended back road loop to figure out which way is norf!
The dimple award goes to Sheri, we’ll explain later…
The snap and pop award goes to Nate, although there weren’t any brother in law’s around to make the dance machine more interesting!
And the narcolepsy award goes to the Tilton, Sanbornton, Belmont, Northfield, Laconia PD for keeping me awake and on the road on Saturday morning!
Here come the dates, so hang on for the weekend, and here comes ski season!
