We had a great time at the annual Pig roast, bull riding and general crazy time that is Gusto’s in September. Between watching all those willing to get on the bull and get tossed, and the fine vittles, there wasn’t much room for anything but dancing. The temps were great for being warm inside, and cool outside, and the smoke was gone! I don’t mean to pick on the smokers out there, but the difference when you are singing is huge! So, we say goodbye to another state that has moved in the way of clean air, and hope that New Hampshire is next. My cousin Lori is an advocate for Tobacco Free Kids in the northeast, and she mentioned being part of the push to continue the national trend towards smoke free workplaces. Well, the more I play in rooms that have followed suit on the removal of smoking, the more I want to see it gone everywhere we play. It has not had a negative impact on business, and considering how much better I feel at the end of the night, don’t be surprised if you see me standing on my soap box and helping out a good cause. We had 2 fantastic nights in Barre, and are looking forward to some more double shots in that room in the future. Special thanks to Jeannie and Gary for being the host/hostess with the most and setting us up with some swank new band digs to hang out in!

This week looks like another crazy one, we will be doing three nights in and around NH, and enjoying every minute of it. Thursday gives us the Brimmer, Friday returns us to an old favorite for an end of season bash at the Anchorage in Sunapee, and Saturday gives way to a great little wedding. We hope to see you when and where you can, and get ready for a single night at whippersnappers next weekend. I screwed up a conflict that one of the guys had on Saturday, so we will ONLY be playing on Friday the 23rd at Whips and will be taking Friday off. That means maybe going out to see another band on Saturday! Cool, we can catch up with a bunch of people that we never get to see!

This week’s awards go to:

The band house from heaven award goes to Jeannie and Gary for making room for all us band guys and girls in their new headquarters!

The Bob Barker award goes to the national average gas prices and their current trend – come on down!

The fall is here award goes to mother nature for giving us some great night time temps to work and play in!

And the narcolepsy award goes to bill, he got his head to the pillow first!
