Well, Saturday night at the Nail was much better than expected. It’s always a crap shoot in spring whether or not people will come out. Thankfully, there were a lot of you, and you stuck around for most of the night! We had a blast, it was great to see a bunch of folks from up that way come out and enjoy the rain! Thanks to the girls at subway and the mini mart for taking care of dinner for us, and getting the nail the ones and fives that they needed!

Some more new gigs to talk about, one that’s coming up fast – a fundraiser for the Vermont lady hoopsters elite! The 9^th grade AAU basketball team won states, and is going to nationals. They are raising funds to travel to Florida to do so, and have asked LKP to be the music for their fundraiser. Long-time friend Heather Perkins is the coach, and has asked us to join them in Hyde Park to play Friday June 3 from 8 to midnight at the Hyde Park VFW. This is open to all, but tickets are limited due to space. The event is asking $18 per person. Please come show your support for some young athletes who are doing great and need a little dough to make the next step of the trip happen. This weekend we start our newest room in Rangeley, Maine. This one is a haul for most of you, but I hope some of our Maine regulars will make the trip for their opening night with LKP! This should be a blast, and we might even get some new shoes out of the deal! Come dance and bowl, yes, bowl at Moose Alley! We’ll have a full update for all as to how much fun this new room is, and get the tour bus loaded for the next time up! Saturday is back to Whippersnappers, and it sounds like it might actually be sunny! Never can tell, but maybe some folks can get the two wheelers out and have some fun after all this rain.

Friday morning quarterback again! Last weekend was a private party, so I skipped my weekly duties and didn’t do a newsletter. We’re back, and better than ever, or whatever that line is… schedule updates should be on the website in the next day or so, and include dates through December, so get ready for a great 2011, and we’ll see where things go! Lots of fun parties, summer events and weddings, so we’ll be all over the map with some new rooms, some old faves, and some wild events, so keep your eyes and ears open!

First of all, thanks to Jan for a fantastic birthday party! We always have to reduce the size of the PA when we do a party in a living room, but this one ROCKED! Thanks to all who came, and we hope you had as much fun as we did! Let’s do it again next year! This weekend has us in Barre tonight, and off tomorrow. April always seems like a transition month between ski and summer, so we tend to do fewer gigs this time of year and recharge the batteries. Maybe we should plan some events for April and early October to fill in the lull. Put that on the back burner and let it simmer. Next weekend is a double shot in one day! Friday is off, unless someone books us last minute, and then Saturday we’re playing from 1 to 3 at Buzzard’s ride in Hooksett at the American Legion. Ride leaves at 11, and gets back around 1:30. For more info on the ride, etc. go to www.buzzardsridenh.org. we’ll be there playing our set from 1 to 3, and then pack up and head over to Whippersnappers to set up for the night. We hope that the bikes just head down and have some fun with us in the evening once the ride is over. Come one come all and support a great cause.

As summer comes, we’ll be hitting a number of nights during bike week, adding a stop in Rangeley, ME for you folks up north, and getting our hands back in at the Brimmer in Manchester, so keep your heads up for some great events this summer! Hope all is well and check out the awards!

The holy &^%( award goes to college band bassist Jon Bon Roberts for showing up at the last show of the season at the Matterhorn. Wow. Where did you come from!? We hope you had fun, and I think we actually play one or two songs from that far back, and we’ll get you up next time!

The gravity award goes to the Jager girls for tearing up the stage, and almost causing a riot! Too much fun, and almost too much to clean up!

The bouncer award goes to Patrice for hopping the rail and taking control!

The best setup for a house party goes to Jan for clearing the living room and letting the house ROCK!

And the narcolepsy award goes to Jan as well for taking a nap when needed!

So, ever have one of those weekends where everything is sweet! Weather on Friday made for us thinking that spring was well on the way, and the crowds were out in Londonderry. We saw a lot of familiar faces, but continue to see new ones out as you boys and girls come out to check on the new lineup. We’re having a blast with a lot of new songs, and more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. Friday quickly became Saturday, and we headed north to Maine for the next to last installment at the Matterhorn. I was a little worried when we started because it was a bit quiet in comparison, but things quickly picked up and a regular nutty night attacked us as usual! School girl Saturday was great as usual, but it seemed like the desire of the staff was lacking in comparison to 80’s night. Maybe a couple of new themes will bring back the energy.

This weekend we’ll be hitting the slopes at Jay peak on Friday, and Stowe on Saturday. This will be our last gig at D’Cota’s for a while. It sounds like they’re closing down the bar for mud season, at least when it comes to bands, and will be back up for the summer. More on this as I know more. We’re putting out the call to all Newportians and Derbyites to get your buns to Jay and fire it up for this Friday night! Saturday puts us back in Stowe, and the schedule at the Rusty Nail is up in the air for the end of the season as well. the April 9 date that is on the calendar is probably a no go, but depending on snow, we may just sneak back over there a bit later in the month if the skiing is still there. We’ll let you know!

The MacGyver award goes to me! Fixing stuff on Saturday took us from a haze free night to smoke filled. I love it when stuff can be fixed on the fly!

The die-hard award goes to Cheryl and Kristin for 3 out of 4 gigs in 2 weeks. You guys are NUTS! But we love you for it.

The newbie award goes to Malorie, Katherine, Chau and Mia for kicking off their first LKP show with a bang, and we hope you come back for more fun!

The party like a rock star award goes to Never in Vegas – they were playing up the road in Sunday River, and came down to play with us after they were done. Trays of shots and some hijinks later, we didn’t see them at the end of the night. I guess we should have told the bouncers they were friends of ours so they wouldn’t throw them out! Too much fun and too funny. You boys are great and out of your minds in a good way! See you when we play next door to each other!

Well, the first weekend with Mark and Keith was a blast! We discovered that the latest new addition at Gusto’s is a new smoke detector setup that renders our haze machine off, since it sets off the alarms! Our apologies to the Barre fire department. We thank them for their prompt response and allowing us to get back to playing as soon as possible! What a way to start off the night. After that, the rest of the weekend forged on as the rest of the time at Gusto’s was a blast, and we rolled it into Saturday night at the Matterhorn! What a great crowd, great show and great energy! The staff and fans outdid themselves this weekend with a ton of fun and a great reason to do a repeat of the exact same gigs on march 4^th and 5^th! Get ready boys and girls, we’re gonna do it all again!

This weekend has us returning to the scene of the crime at the Rusty Nail in Stowe. The last time we were there, we broke the record for craziness on Saturday night. It was so much fun, everyone decided to do it all again this weekend. So, tonight and tomorrow will be another double shot at the Nail! Please let the snow run its course, and then come to the hottest place in Vermont! We’ll be doing more giveaways tonight and tomorrow, and hope that you all can make it out for another fantastic weekend. I’m sure that with vacation week and all the people that will be out to enjoy the snow, we’ll be having another record weekend to smile and talk about!

Welcome to the two new guys, tonight is their first night! Mark and Keith will hit the stage with LKP at 10 pm tonight to kick off the next version of LKP! Last weekend was a blast at the Wobbly. Two great nights, and a bunch of fun with some fantastic crowds and good times had by all. We hope that we’ll be able to do some more weekends up there next winter, but that was it for us for this year! Bummer, man! It has been a rough one with all the snow, and then a dead computer to add insult to injury. Sorry I didn’t get an email out to all of you last week, I was still retrieving stuff off of the old laptop and adding it to the new laptop. Thanks to windows mail for making that so easy – NOT!

With that in mind, I have recompiled the email list. Now, with that out of the way, we had a blast at Whips and the Matterhorn this past weekend. It was so great to see some of the Maine regulars back, and we’re so happy to see you again! Don’t be a stranger! We want a fantastic winter with lots of repeats, and we’ll try to make it so you don’t get sick of us! Many thanks to Michelle, Mark and the whole crew at Whips, and Greg, Becca, Roger and Patrice at the Matterhorn for always making us feel special!

This weekend is a rare double shot at the Rusty Nail. Fridays are usually few and far between, and gigs back to back are even more infrequent, so we’re doing some special locals party thing for our regulars from NH and VT that come to see us at the Nail. Friday night will have some giveaways of LKP gear, and who knows what else will happen! We’re trying to show that two nights at the nail can be a regular thing, so come out Friday and show support, and then come back Saturday and add to the madness! We need to send out our special thanks to the folks at Baker distributors for helping out with the radio advertising, and very special thanks to TnT for making it all happen. Tiff and Tarin are getting the word out in Stowe, and we are awed by your energy and your greatness! We bow in your presence!

What a great new year's eve! I hope that everyone had a safe and happy holiday. My apologies to anyone who came up to see us Saturday night only to discover that we had played the happy hour and there were a slew of dj's mixing for the evening. If you came up, come back on February 11 and 12 and we'll definitely take care of you at the Wobbly! Thanks to the fantastic staff for taking such great care of us.

This week has us back in Manchester at the Derryfield on Friday, and returning to the Matterhorn for our first gig at Sunday river this season! We're looking forward to both, and hope that all y'all come out to have a blast with us.

On a sad note, after almost 10 years, the Benning street Bar and Grill and Electra Nightclub closed their doors Christmas weekend. We're sorry to see the club go, and hope that we'll be finding a new place to play in the upper valley. We'll just have to see what happens, and I hope that we'll be back playing somewhere in west leb/ white river soon!

The gorilla foot award goes to Kyle for bustin' his bass drum pedal mid gig on Friday night.

The "I didn't go to Cambridge either" award goes to the zipperhead that thought that it was a good idea to question someone's education while standing there in a sweater that his mother obviously picked out for him. Hey, I didn't know they let you wear garanimals at Cambridge, either!

The best hair award goes to MC Theo. If I did a 'do like that, it would look like a pack of hairy hot dogs on the back of my head!

Another year has come to an end. the time to wax nostalgic is here, and I hope that everyone's 2010 was a great one and that 2011 holds some interesting times and fun for us all! As we rapidly approach the beginning of our 15th year, I have to say it's been a good run! Thanks to all the past members for their time and effort, and I hope that your current projects are keeping you happy and enjoying what I consider to be the greatest job in the world. We all get to "work" on a stage in front of people, and get paid to be at a party. Who can complain! With that being said, we look at 2011 as another time of transition, and hope that our search for a new drummer finds a happy fit to the fun group of kids that we try to be. Special thanks to Kyle for filling the drum seat in the interim until we get a more permanent replacement. Auditions will start in the next couple weeks, so all drummers, this is an open call to have fun, make some coin, and have a weekend off here and there. All serious animals should contact me at my email address below, or my cell phone and we'll set up an audition!

With NYE upon us, we'll be rocking the Wobbly tonight and tomorrow, but the schedule has changed a bit. We will be playing après ski this afternoon in addition to the new years eve show tonight, so come early and watch us play some different stuff, and hammer through some tunes we haven't done in a while! While I thought tomorrow was going to be us as the recovery party, we will again be doing the après ski from 5 to 7:30pm, and then there will be a national act taking the stage at the Wobbly! I have heard too many rumors, so I can't say exactly what or who it will be. Redman, Method man, Bomb squad, not sure, but we'll be doing the après, and then hanging to see what's up after that! For those of you that were planning on the recovery party, please come and recover with us, and we'll all hang out together!

Next weekend has us returning to the Derryfield and our first gig back at the Matterhorn in Sunday River, so get ready!

This past weekend was a blast. Thanks to the Rusty Nail for opening back up and all of you for coming out! What a great night, and all the improvements to the club are looking great! I guess I'll break my arm patting myself on the back since Jason and I put in the new sound system and light show! Now it makes my light show look dated, so look for improvements on that end in the near future! Thanks to Tiff, Kate and all the staff for making the return to the Nail a great one. We'll see you throughout ski season and the rest of the year!

Saturday was the Ben and Jerry's holiday party, and for the first time that we've done it, it was all of the different locations! Like 650 people and a great time! great to see you Wilbur! Nice surprise to see some familiar faces, Jules! Special thanks to Kim for having us back, it was a great time!

This weekend, we are back at Gusto's tonight in Barre, and we'll be hitting the stage at D'Cota's in Jay, VT on Saturday. On a sad note, owner of D'Cota's, and all around great guy Del Cota passed away a little over a week ago. We were totally saddened to hear of his passing, and I was glad I got the chance to sit and hang out with him at the end of the night the last time we were up there. We'll raise a glass on Saturday, and toast the fond memories of a kind man. The short time that we got to know him was fun filled, and we hope that the rest of the family and staff will accept our hugs and heartfelt condolences.

Christmas is coming, so don't forget all those gifts, and Christmas cheer to go around. Remember to drive safely, and if you decide to create your own lane, and try to cut me off, I will stay in front of you, and make you feel like a schmuck. So, turn off your high beams, remember that you were the one that doesn't know how to drive, and you deserve the coal in your stocking.

With Justin's announcement that he was giving his notice, we have decided to ask Kyle to come back and cover until a new drummer is chosen. So, good friend and skin slapper Kyle Flewz will be back on the throne until we have a new animal behind the kit. Come out and say hey, and make his return a comfortable one! As mentioned, we will be accepting applications for new drummers in the next few weeks, and be starting auditions in January. Let any drummer who likes to play about 80 or so nights a year, travel about a 3 to 4 hour radius from Manchester, and is a team player who likes lots of lights, and a variety of fun gigs, know and we'll get them the information and schedule an audition.

Last weekend we did a benefit for Jennie, and hopefully raised some funds and helped her out. Thanks to Matt Langley from Root 3 for playing, and Kyle and Mike for coming back and sitting in. We had a blast, and hope that all had a great time.

We'll start some awards after this weekend, and get back on a regular schedule!

due to a large party in the function room, the Derryfield has decided to go with a dj this evening to keep the levels down and allow their function's band to not have another band blasting down the hall. I hope that this does not inconvenience any of you who were planning on coming out tonight. the Derryfield will be open with a dj, or you'll just have to head to another location for live music!

Saturday night from 5 to 10, we will be donating our time to support our friend Jennie Lamanuzzi in her fight against lymphoma. the event is being held at the Gunstock Inn, and will feature Matt from Route 3, LKP, and who knows who else may show up! please come by and support a great cause if you're in the area and would like to help out. we hope to see you all there.

in other sad news, the transition situation with LKP is back on. Justin has given his notice on drums, due to the travel schedule. so, we are looking for another drummer to fill the seat. auditions will begin as soon as possible to fill the chair with someone who likes to play 80 to 100 gigs a year; play within an approximate 4 hour radius of Manchester, NH; has a good team attitude for setting up, tearing down and performing in a band with a large light show and PA; enjoys playing a wide variety of music with medleys and lyric changes being a must. any and all serious applicants should contact me either at john@lastkidpicked.com, or 603-359-5999. we will be taking our time on this one and getting it right. please get the word out to any drummers you know that might be interested. practice schedule is usually once a week once everyone is up to speed, and practice and auditions will be held at my house in Belmont, NH. get the word out and let me know!

Well Halloween weekend was a success! We had a great time with all the fun folks at the Cannon mountain view, and the large numbers made the temps in the tent stay up in the reasonable range! The load out was a bit cold though! Great costumes all around, we just loved you gangsters, firewomen and Rasta's! We're looking forward to the gigs coming up as we hone in on things in the band and add a bunch of new material.

This weekend, we are off tonight, and then head north to Jay, VT. with no current gig in Newport, this is as close as we get for all you northern Newportians! Head over to D'Cota's with us on Saturday night and have a blast! For those not familiar, it's the former Dirty Sally's I believe. We'll be cranking it out from 9 to 1 so come early and have a blast!

Also, we'll be playing an early set at the benefit at Whippersnappers in Londonderry, NH on Sunday. I believe our start time is around 5 or shortly after. Come support a great cause and see a bunch of bands!

Fall is upon us! the pumpkins are here, and Halloween is on the way! We'll be cranking out a bunch of fun gigs this month, and playing all over the place. Hope you can make it out. Thanks to LZ for taking great care of us last Saturday, and making us feel like rock stars! Also, showing us how to use your head in a party situation! We hope that everyone had a great time and we'll keep our ears peeled for more fun in Hen Kicker.

This weekend starts tonight at the Grass Drags and Watercross in Fremont! We'll be playing from 6 to 10, so come down, have a blast and join in the fun! So many exclamation points, so little time! Saturday we return to Whippersnappers in Londonderry for another great night. Now that we're in to fall, the crowds are growing at Whips, and the food is always great, so come early and stay all night. If you haven't been in a while, the restaurant now opens and you can see the stage from the back side of the bar. Pretty cool!

Next weekend we'll be cranking it up in Barre on Friday, so get ready!

Just a quickie. FMQB happens again after a busy week. We had a great time at Gusto's and On Tap this past weekend. The crowds up north in Essex were not as big as the first time, but there was a lot of stuff going on, and regulars out of town, so we'll just chock it up to summer. Good times and long drives

This weekend gets a bit of a change. As mentioned in last week's news, the Electra gig has been cancelled for tonight. We'll chock that up to summer etc. and figure out what we need to do to get all y'all to come out in the upper valley. There has to be a secret method, like free candy or balloons, or something. What a great couple of weeks! It was fantastic to catch up with the folks in Manchester on the 16th, head off to Maine and kick things off with a great night at Rick's on the 17th, and then pack main street in Newport, VT this past Saturday! We miss playing up north, and the number of folks out in the street showed us that there are still lots of fun loving people up there to play with! We just need a place to play.

My favorite part of the past couple of weeks was the unexpected crossing of paths with former world champion boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Just a random run in with a boxing great at Rick's. Who'd a thunkit! All I can say is way cool, and it was a pleasure to shake your hand.

Coming up we have a great weekend for those of you in central and northern Vermont. Gusto's Friday, with a huge beach party going on, and then On Tap in Essex on Saturday to round out a great weekend. We hope you can make it out and play with us!

Friday the 6th at Electra has been cancelled. Seems like people don't like to hang in West Leb in the summer. We'll see how things go in the fall. But, we're still headed to west Stewartstown on the 7th, so get ready for some wild woods fun!

The impatient award goes to the stage guy from Aquafest. The event was great, the event hosts were great, and then this French shower Ziploc is breaking the stage down around us in the dark. How about five minutes, Clyde? We'll even clean up our mess. OK, we won't and I'll guarantee my anger will be even greater if we have the pleasure of dealing with you next year.

Congratulations to Andrew and Christy. We had a blast at your wedding, even though the heat was making us sweat like crazy! We totally understood when everyone had had enough and headed off to bed before the last set. We cleaned it all up and headed off into the night with another happy 4th! this weekend is almost a weekend off, but we are proud to be a part of a great fundraiser tomorrow. the King Blossom Guitars Apple Jam!

The KBG Apple Jam is the second annual event supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. LKP along with several other bands and guitarists will be playing all day on Saturday to raise funds for the WWP. The event is at the Mount Sunapee resort, and runs from noon to 11pm. We will be one of the earlier acts, taking the stage around 12:30pm. Gates open at 11, and the price is $25 at the gate. We are hoping that one and all can come out and join us to support a great cause and see some great musicians.

Man, time flies when you're busy as all get go. Another week has passed, and it's time to head back out and play some music! A long week of work makes us look forward to the fun times on stage. This past weekend, we headed to Cohasset for a little private party, and had a blast with the folks down there. Such a cool little room with a great view. We hope they'll let us heathens back down that way again some time! Saturday was the return to our friends up in West Stewartstown at the Outback. It was a blast up there and the Mud Run folks surely know how to dance, even though it looks like they didn't know how to wipe their feet on the way in! The dance floor was a muddy, clumpy mess by the end of the night. Still, a good time was had by all and special thanks to Eric for his Pittsburg Hilton accommodations. Greatly appreciated and always good to see you!

Happy birthday to Amelia. 1 is a very important age. Keep eating cake and having fun. don't forget to poop.

As mentioned, this weekend will be in Barre and Manchester. Next weekend is the start of bike week, and we'll be in the Weirs on Saturday night for the final slot on the main stage at the Lobster Pound. 9 to 1 or something like that. So get your scooter out and come out and have some fun with us! Sunday afternoon we'll be at Laconia Harley in Meredith from 6 to 8 for another fun slot with them. We love the folks there, and they have a great little setup with lots of vendors and fun stuff. We'll see if the Sham-Wow folks are there again this year!

With the next to last ski weekend in Maine behind us, I'm looking forward to warm temps and summer like conditions, and it's only April 2! we have the wonderful occurrence of two of our favorite summer places to play this weekend, and both will have fantastic conditions to take the bike out in the evening, and freeze on the way home! We'll be kicking off the weekend at Whippersnappers tonight, with a whole slew of fun and hopefully some of those great temps that the weather guys have been talking about. Then, to round out the weekend, we'll see how packed the deck gets on Saturday at the Derryfield since it's supposed to hit 80! lovin' it!

As the spring season hits us, we look back at a short winter and revel in the great times we have had at Killington, Stowe and Sunday River, and hope that the fun will continue into the next year. Sorry for waxing so nostalgic, but just having one of those moments. Riley will be 2 in a couple weeks, and it just doesn't seem possible. Nothing like a two year old that talks a blue streak, and is funny as all get go. Parenting doesn't stink! Except when she learns the bad words and you know it was me that said them!

a double shot for this weekend! we're getting toward the end of ski season, and we're cranking it up over the next couple of weeks with some final hoopla to keep the skiers and winter vacationers happy. this weekend we'll be cranking it out at the Rusty Nail for both tonight and Saturday! there will be specials, giveaways, cake, balloons! well, really I'm sure that there will be specials and some cool stuff, but I don't know all the details. we'll just have to see what happens when we get there!

this past weekend at the Derryfield and Matterhorn was a blast. great crowds both nights, and some crazy folks having fun. not too crazy, but just crazy enough. enough so my head hit the pillow and I was out! looking forward to next Saturday, and the 10th of April to round it out at the Matterhorn, hope you can all make it up for bust and burn!

as mentioned, this weekend is a double shot at the nail. we'll be looking to make both nights different and interesting, so don't worry about coming both nights!

We had a fantastic time in Londonderry and Maine this past weekend, despite the slippery and snowy travel! I will never complain about snow in ski country! AND, we look forward to the conditions that are undoubtedly at Killington for this weekend! Cheers to all the fun kids that came out to have a great time this past weekend, and we'll see you this weekend!

A quick update on my stupidity. we will not be in Newport on Friday the 12th of March, I had already moved a date at the Derryfield, and had totally spaced that it was in the calendar and all that good stuff. Well, there were a ton of new faces at the Nail last Saturday, and we had a blast with all of you! Ski season is in full effect, even though the weather is acting more like April lately. the general consensus is that the conditions are great and the mountains are full of eager skiers that love the night life. Did I mention that they like to boogie? We had such a good time, we'll just have to keep doing it! Special thanks to the Nail staff for always taking great care of us, and making sure that we always have smiles on our faces!

This weekend has us in Londonderry tonight, and back up to the scene of the crime in Sunday River at the Matterhorn! I'm so hoping that last times stomach bug leaves me alone so I can enjoy the brisket, and pay attention to what's going on in the room! Get ready boys and girls, it's been a while and we're looking forward to it!

Also, coming up in a couple of weeks, the Friday March 12 gig has been changed from Electra to the West Shore Pub in Newport. We'll try the west leb gig every couple of months to see if that keeps you all coming out to play, and make up for the messup of a couple of weeks back and get back up to the north country to play with the Newportians! we hate it when snafu's come along, but it happens from time to time. some of you might have hoped we were in Maine this Saturday, but we had a prior obligation in Newport, NH and the boys and girls at the Matterhorn were gracious enough to let us keep the other date. also, and alas, there was a mixup for tomorrow night (Friday), and we will not be at the West Shore Pub on Friday night. they had big plans for their second anniversary for Saturday, and having us on Friday would have potentially messed up the Saturday festivities. we will be back up north as soon as possible, and I hope that we have not inconvenienced anyone too much. if so, we'll make it up to you!

thanks to all the fun folks at Electra and the Derryfield for last weekend, we had a blast, and none of us threw up! it was a banner night both nights in my mind, and I was very thankful that I was able to eat and enjoy it! Well, the weekend started out with a bang and ended with a boot! Nothing like a good stomach flu to put the kibosh on having fun on Saturday. I started heaving about 7, and thankfully didn't have to use the bucket I had on stage with me! Man, sing a couple songs, lose your legs. Sing the next one sitting. repeat. No lunch lost on stage, and no reason for folks to go running for the exits due to mass purging. Thankfully all the staff and friends at the Matterhorn made the night pass as quickly as it could, and we made it through three sets! Thanks all for your support during my hours of ill.

This weekend brings us back to Electra after a long hiatus. We're hoping that all the upper valley crazies can come out and have some fun with us! There will be fun to be had by all! Balloons and ponies! Champagne wishes and caviar dreams! Come and play with us, and then roll to the Derryfield on Saturday for a great night at this fun room. We're looking forward to all the Manch fans that we haven't seen in a while. Do your pre-super bowl partying with LKP in west Lebanon and Manchester!

We'll see you all in Newport at the winter carnival dance on the 13th in lovely Newport, NH. Open to the public, the opera house is always a blast!

What a great weekend at Killington! 2 fantastic nights at the Wobbly, and an après ski gig at Bear mountain that started strong, and died after the lifts closed. We had a blast, and met some fun kids from Ohio, Jersey, Israel and all parts in between. Thanks to the great staff at the Wobbly for taking such good care of us, and special thanks to Matt for mixing us right and having fun with us. Thanks to Chris for breakfast. We couldn't have been treated better, and we're glad we're coming back in March for another great weekend of gigs!

This weekend, we're returning to southern NH at Whippersnappers on Friday, and then back up to ski country for Saturday night in Stowe. We'll be rocking the Nail and Whips and having a great time for another weekend of cool gigs. Hope that everyone can make it out to play! Looks like the weather's gonna be fine.

Happy new year and glad to see that 2010 is off and rockin'! after a weekend off to replenish the batteries, we're off into winter with a bang and a blast. we'll be knocking it out this weekend at the Wobbly Barn on Friday and Saturday nights, both nights i believe are promo nights with the folks from Jagermeister! Jason and I will also be doing an apres ski set from 2 to 5pm on saturday afternoon at Bear Mountain Lodge at Killington. we may see some sit in's from the rest of the band, or they may just have a few cold ones and hang out for the afternoon! come on up and have some fun! we're looking forward to a great weekend in ski country!

Pow. And then there was snow. I guess winter is officially taking it's hold on us, and we need to warm up the snow blower and get out the boots. We had been avoiding it for long enough, now it's time to dive in head first! With a light dusting in Stowe this past weekend, the crowds weren't as big as mid winter, but we had a bunch of people out, and we had a blast. Special thanks to Rob and Tiff for always making the Nail a great time. One of the things that seems to be happening is a couple of our regular hangouts going through some pretty serious changes. Whips has ripped out the wall behind the bar so the restaurant is now able to see all the way through to the stage. This means more seating, more visibility and a bigger overall venue. Pretty cool. Up ta Maine, the Matterhorn has moved the stage to the front wall closest to the road, and made the old stage location the main entrance. They have done some HUGE changes this summer. Instead of the far end of the downstairs dining room being the dark corner and everyone being jammed in by the bar, now the band is opposite the bar, and the dance floor is about 4 times the size it used to be. We'll get some pictures up so people can see. This is going to make this room a lot more fun to play, and a lot more fun to dance in. Not to mention that there isn't a wooden beam coming down in between me and Mike any more! We're totally stoked that even with the economy the way it is, our bar buddies are seeing the light and making some changes to make their locations more user friendly. We're really looking forward to Whips on Friday to see how it looks, and the Matterhorn on the Saturday after New Years to kick off our Maine winter season!

As mentioned, the nail was a blast on Saturday, and it's always nice to see some familiar faces. On a sad note, regular dance floor member and long time LKP fan Missy Boivin was killed in a car accident in mid November. We didn't hear anything about it until last week. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends, and we hope that her memory will never be forgotten, but the pain of her loss will subside over time. As mentioned in her obit, she loved to come out and dance to One Night Stand and LKP. We are thinking of you and you are missed.

This weekend has us back at Whippersnappers on Friday night, and we'll be taking Saturday off for some xmas parties and other non band events. we'll be back at Gusto's and the West Shore on the 18th and 19th. Then Christmas falls just perfectly to foul up a weekend, and we'll be back for new years at the Nail on the 31st. On another note, we will not be at Electra on the first. They have decided that they feel that most people will be too attached to their couches to come out, so we'll rest and save it up for the Matterhorn on Saturday the 2nd!

While this is another single gig weekend for us, this is a big start to the winter season. Saturday is our first night at the Wobbly Barn in Killington for the 2009-10 ski season! Killington does everything earlier and later than everyone else, so despite the warm weather, we're hoping you'll head to the mountain for some high altitude fun with some of the greatest food around, and the best entertainment on the mountain! I wake up this morning to rain, and immediately think - is it snowing at the ski areas we play? We hope so, because that means more fun for all of us!

On a sad side note, local musician and friend George Burl Gibson Jr. lost his long battle with cancer this past week. Calling hours are in New London at 1pm on Saturday, and unfortunately we will have to be in Killington setting up and won't make it. Our thoughts go out to George and his family, and we hope that the smiles and laughs outweigh the tears as we remember a fine musician and Zappa look alike. With his unforgettable laugh stuck in my head, I'll just have to add George with the likes of Doug Bashaw and remember the good times, and reflect on another friend taken before their time. We'll miss you.

So, we'll raise a glass on Saturday night in remembrance of another good friend and play some raucous music to lighten the load. It's funny how music will remind you of people and places, and help the healing process. Heal away, and keep on smiling even when it's tough to.

We had some fun at Ashley's on Saturday this past weekend, although it always seems to rain when we play there. Our fun turns into mother nature's wrath, or something like that. This week's awards go to some fine and funny occurrences from Saturday night:

Not trying to be a Richard, just want you to understand that the likelihood of us stopping what we're doing and running off willy nilly in your direction is not a likely outcome. Have fun, by all means, but keep your ears open.

Great costumes. That's all I can say. There were some fantastic ones, and the group costumes took the cake at the opera house. Bus, canoes, an entire camp full of participants. Your ingenuity is staggering.

Two great nights at Electra and the opera house made us glad that Halloween can come more than once a year. Some people really get into it, and we appreciate their drive to outdo last year's costume. We should have one in the summer just to see what people would dress up like.

This weekend, we're off to Manchester tonight, and off tomorrow. We'll enjoy an evening off and get ready for the upcoming thanksgiving festivities.

What a great weekend! First a true surprise birthday with all the fun and games that the Halloween season should bring us, followed by a great night at the nail. Time flies when you're having fun, and it's been flying! Thanks to Shawna et al for the coldest, yet hottest outdoor party we've ever played. I'm not sure where the temp bottomed out at, but it was definitely a chilly one. We look forward to some normal temps at the upcoming gigs to keep our fingers and the rest of us warm.

After a bit of time off for a family wedding and all that good stuff, we're back into it and running at full bore. We'll be all over the place in the next few weeks and are excited for the coming of Halloween. It's always a blast, and this year shouldn't be any different.

The winter schedule is really coming together fast, and the website will be updated in the next few days to reflect what the heck is going on for the rest of the fall and winter. Here we go with the upcoming dates! -

as I deal with the hassle of metrocast deciding to change their policy and then blatantly LYING about it, I will apologize for the emails etc. being late and non-existent. it used to be that I could email my whole list of people at one shot. now I have to split it up into groups of less than a hundred and do several emails to do the same thing - plus spending all morning putting them into groups because vista needs about 30 seconds per adjustment to reset itself. computers are your friends, the machines have become aware....

please, if you are enjoying the emails, let me know. if you get MySpace or facebook reminders and like them better, let me know. the facebook group -last kid picked band fans - allows me to email everyone in the group at one shot, very easily. please let me know your poison and we'll make the best of it.

after some nights off, we're back in the swing of things as school starts and fall is headed toward us. we've had some sultry weather lately, so I'm looking forward to some cooler temps on stage! we've been working on some new tunes and will be bringing them out live in the coming weeks. any more suggestions for tunes? we're always interested to hear what you want and see what new tunes are tripping your triggers. let us know and we'll see what works!

this weekend returns us to Electra and the Nail. we'll be stoked up for two of our favorites and hope you can come out and play with us. with no new awards from a lack of gigs due to nights off, we'll give you the upcoming dates and update it for next week. I've been lax on the camera lately, so we'll get some new pix up asap!

Subject: LKP AT WHIPS AND OUTBACK THIS WEEKEND!

well, the old leg is getting better. actually stood up for both gigs this weekend! we had a blast on Friday at Electra with a bunch of folks who also got to enjoy a few tunes from Sony Red artists Jamie Wray (sp?) and HiFi. we learned a few tunes with them Friday afternoon and got to bang out a handful of songs that we tried like hell to remember! all was well and we rolled off into the night. the following night was a barnburner at the west shore pub in Newport, VT. packed is the word and hot and humid were the conditions. we saw every fun loving person in town I think, because there was no room for any more! we had a blast and enjoyed the late night vittles and no available hotel rooms for 50 miles and cruised it home in the wee hours of the morning.

Jason and I had the pleasure of checking out AC/DC on Tuesday night at Gillette in Foxborough. Huge. just )(*^#&% HUGE. where are they now documentarians Anvil were the openers, and boy, they need to turn the vocals up. just buried in a sea of double bass and guitar feedback. as former drummer Keith who also attended said: "shark sandwich? it only had a 2 word review....." spinal tap lovers will get this one. Brian and Angus used the whole huge stage while Malcolm and the rhythm section stayed put by the drum set. wow. a ginormous stage for 2 guys that actually got to use it! impressive sound, lights, pyro and pageantry. well worth the trip. PS - hey guys, figure out the parking and egress deal so someone who parks on the southbound side doesn't have to go north for a mile, U turn and then come back through all the crap. also thanks Mass DOT for working on 495 and closing all but 1 lane in 5 locations on the way home. again, well worth the trip, but took a bit to get home!

this weekend we'll be banging it out at Whippersnappers in Londonderry tonight, and up to West Stewartstown at the Outback tomorrow. Hope that all can make it out and have some fun.

I would have to say one of the hardest weekends for me in a long time, and I'm sure harder for everyone that had to deal with me. let's just say having to sit down for this weekends gigs was a pain for me. a little pinched nerve made my right leg about as useful as a sledgehammer to a watchmaker. some rest, relaxation and great help from the Mosenthal clinic have got me back up to relative usefulness, but we'll see how this weekend goes! gusto's was a blast as always, and hot as all get go, and our return to Rick's cafe was a joy. it was great to see so many familiar faces and have them be patient with my having to sit down. special thanks to all the helpers at Rick's and all our good friends and family who made sure I didn't fall over that night! everything seems to be getting back to normal after a little vaca in Maine.

this weekend throws a bit of a curve to you at our normal Electra gig. we will be backing up Sony RED artists HiFi as they tour to support their new album. the LKP's will join HiFi on stage at the beginning of the night to introduce you to their new tunes. come early and check this out! there will be some solo and duo music along with LKP and HiFi on stage, and then we'll rock the night away with some new tunes and all your faves!

Saturday has us returning to northern Vermont to our favorite, the West shore Pub. it's always packed at the pub, and we hope you can all make it out to enjoy the dog days of summer and dance your buns off! we're totally looking forward to seeing some peeps that usually don't get a chance to come out and play with us cuz they're working. you know who you are!

There is nothing like the Derryfield in the summertime! Wow, what a ton of people out on the deck, inside, everywhere having a great time and going nuts. We had a ton of fun and were glad that the weather was great so the full expanse of the bar could be used. And then how do you top that? How about a wedding with some great dancing and a fun room to play in? It was a fantastic weekend that allowed us to get back into the swing after a week off, and enjoy every minute of it.

This weekend we kick things off on Friday with a return to Gusto's on Friday, and our kick off gig in Maine at Rick's cafe in Naples on Saturday. As always we're looking forward to the nuts at Gusto's to be out in full force! AND, Rick's has never disappointed and we'll be cranking it up with them on Saturday. All you Mainers, we're coming up to play, so get there and get ready to have fun!

Bike week started with a reunion party at Electra on Friday the 12th. It gave me a chance to catch up with a ton of old friends, and say hey to some new ones. Thanks for coming out and having fun with us! Thanks to Melissa and crew for organizing the event and getting everyone to come out. We look forward to seeing all y'all back in west leb next month! We started off bike week at the HD dealership in Meredith on Saturday, which was arguably the best weather of the week. We had great crowds from all over the place coming out to enjoy bike week and the cool setup that they have at Laconia Harley. It was a ton of fun, we all got some serious sun, and were home before the time we normally start playing on a Saturday. Special thanks to HELI bars, the burnout king, the save the Loons group, Rochelle's Boots on the Ground, Hart's, the Harley girls and all that had booths at LHD. Also special thanks to our contact Amanda, and the Deli family for having us at their fantastic event. Now we need to go play at their southern dealership in Orlando!

The rest of bike week was a bit of a soggy one as you who were there will note. We had some people on Thursday at the Harley Road Tour, but the rain kept most away. Great to see Gord out and getting a chance to catch up on things. Ian is going into High school next year. Boy are we all getting old fast! We had a blast with the Ivey boys who ride in the 12 foot ball of doom, as well as our new favorite juggler, Marcus Monroe. This dude was hilarious and just plain talented. Check him out at www.marcusmonroe.com, and look for him at a festival or cruise ship near you! Special thanks on this one to Jenna and Ed from HD in Milwaukee for having fun with us as well. We look forward to next year!

Friday and Saturday were another busy weekend of gigs with a benefit for Parker Warren Bolton. He is in need of a heart transplant, and it was nice to see so many familiar faces coming out to have fun with us and support a good cause. We wish the little guy the best in his battle. Thanks to Sarandis and the folks at the Red Blazer for hosting the event, and we hope to come back and play there again! We finished off the weekend with a return to Laconia HD, and had the clouds stick around, but not threaten rain until we were home. Again, we had a blast with some familiar faces, as well as a huge number of new friends that we hope to see out at the regular gigs. With all the food, fun and good times, how could we not have a blast. Michelle, I hope they get your bike fixed soon! Teri, keep it shiny side up, and don't forget to work out the "wrinkles"!

This weekend puts us back on a regular club schedule with our stops at the Rusty Nail and Whippersnappers. Yes, I said the Nail! It's been two months, and now that spring is over and summer is here, we can get back into the baddest ski bar in the land. I hope you made your plans for coming out and having fun with us. Since Sunday is NASCAR, we're glad to be reasonably close in Londonderry, and a Saturday night at Whips never disappoints. Come out, have fun and we'll see you there!

After a weekend off, we need to do a serious rundown of the upcoming gigs so everyone knows where we will be in the next few weeks. With bike week fast approaching, it will be an excellent chance for some all ages gigs for you and the kids to come out and enjoy some sunshine and LKP.

To recap a week ago, we had a couple of great gigs in Londonderry and west Stewartstown. Enjoy some of the amusing awards below.

We will be in Barre this Friday, and Gusto's will be rocking with some good weather and a bunch of new tunes, so get ready! Saturday is off, so we may see you out checking some other bands. You never know....

Once we get into bike week, we'll be starting it off in Lebanon on the 12th at Electra. With class reunions abound, please bring all your buds out to Electra to reminisce about the old times and revel in the current times!

After that, we're off to the Lakes region to kick off bike week at Laconia Harley Davidson in Meredith. We'll be playing Saturday the 13th from noon to 6, with plenty of other events going on around us. Right next to Hart's Turkey Farm restaurant and the Volvo dealership, so come and enjoy!

Next we're doing a Thursday gig from noon to 5 in downtown Laconia at the Harley Road House test drive location at city hall. Come try out a new Harley and listen to some tunes!

Friday the 19th still has us around bike week, but doing a bit of a different event. We'll be helping out at a benefit for Parker Warren Bolton, a young boy who has a number of heart issues and is up for a heart transplant and needs some help. We'll be at the Red Blazer in Concord, setting up in the big room and trying to get as many of you to come out and support a good cause. Tix are $20 and your help is greatly appreciated. Saturday of bike week rounds out with us returning to Laconia Harley for the wrap up gig with LHD. Same time slot, noon to 6 with tons of stuff going on. You can get there on 4 wheels and there is plenty of stuff to do in Meredith during bike week. I might even have to let Jason bring my Triumph over and do some riding myself!

from Friday night in West Leb, to Saturday night in Randolph, to Sunday day in Derry, the weather played with us, and the people came out and had a great time. I am always amazed at the new faces we see at Electra almost every time. there is a core of people that are the same, but then there are a whole new group that seems to change every time. we had a blast, and we'll see you back there next month! we also had a great time at Ashley's in Randolph on Saturday. the rain may have kept some people away, but for a first time in, we were pleasantly surprised, and had a great time. Cruisin' for Calvin on Sunday was limited by rain in the morning, but once the bikes returned, we cranked it up and had some fun. the total sleep for the weekend was about 8 hours, but sometimes exhaustion is well worth it!

this weekend, we'll see you all in Londonderry at Whips on Friday, and up in beautiful west Stewartstown on Saturday. be on the lookout for an Eric sighting up north, hopefully they have enough scotch! whips should be a blast on Friday, and we haven't been up in west stew in months, so we look forward to seeing all of our old friends up there!

Sometimes the competition is fierce. We hit slapshots last friday, and everyone was in Boston fever. Nothing like going up against Bruins, Sox and Celts! So, next time we hope that we're out of the crazy sports trifecta, and some folks can come out and play. We had a great time, and Slapshots is a fun room, we just need to get more of you out to it. As they say, if you build it, they will come. (actually the movie reference is "he", but it seems a bit shortsighted to build something for one person). Saturday at whips was the usual nuthouse, and we saw lots of familiar faces along with a bunch of new ones. We'll be back there next Friday just to see if we can mess you up by playing 2 gigs at the same place in the same month!

This weekend is a trifecta for us, with Electra tonight in west Lebanon, Ashley's in Randolph, VT (another new club, so don't prove last weekend to be the way things are - come on up and play!) and then a benefit motorcycle ride in in Derry (details below). We are looking forward to seeing at least one person go to all three, so we can give that person a complete LKP makeover. You never can tell what will come out of the prize closet for the person that pulls that off!

As mentioned above, we'll be playing on Sunday at Derry cycle in Derry NH. Located at 44 Crystal ave in Derry, the ride starts at 10am, for riders interested, and then if you just want to see some bands, the festivities start at 1pm. We'll be opening the afternoon playing at 1 for an hour or so of our finest fromage. Riders in the cruise are asked for a $20 donation. If you are just coming for the bands, they are asking for a $10 donation to the Cruisin' for Calvin muscular dystrophy fund. LKP will be joined by Midnite Special and Split for the entertainment end of things, and the Whiskey Girls will be doing a bike wash! This past weekend at Gusto's and the Derryfield was nuts! Great crowd Friday, and the summer deck crowd was allowed to frolic and play on the deck in the great weather. I haven't seen a line out the door so fast there, and that included the expanded capacity of the great outdoors! Thanks to all who came out and had a blast with us. We really appreciate the fun that people are having - even if we just get to be voyeurs from the stage!

This weekend we are looking for your help to start things off right with a new club. We are headed to Slapshots sports bar in Merrimack, NH on Friday night, and if you can make it, come down and make it a great one. I've got to assume that the Hanson brothers will be there! Eddie Shore! Old time hockey! Hey Hanrahan! Suzanne sucks (*&^*%$! I know! I know! With this mindset, I've got to figure it's a fun place, and we should fit right in. just a quick note. we had a blast at whips and the west shore last week, and then had some fine vittles and candy for the Easter holiday. hope that all of you had a great weekend and are getting ready for another great one.

we'll be kicking it out at Electra tonight with the prequel to the Girls Gone Wild bus that will be there on Saturday night. come out and strut your stuff at our practice GGW party! doors open at 8:30 tonight. then we'll be off to Stowe for the finale of the season at the Nail. last week was a wash on getting a newsletter done, and i apologize for my lack of diligence. busy weeks make for thursday or friday morning quarterbacking to get the news out. i have vowed to be better about this, but can't seem to do it. maybe i need to end my sunday with it, and then not worry about it for the week! or, just make myself pick some time and get it done. well, thursday am it is!
we had a great weekend back after some vacation time, and some new songs to boot! we are really trying to make an effort to get a ton of new material into the setlist, so be ready for some changes, and some new stuff to dance to!
i'll get to the awards in a minute, but i need to do a platinum award first to Bill Carrier and his welding world of wonders. it's amazing how two simple pieces on the ramp get rid of all of our problems, and make us all happy on load in and load out. cheers to you, Bill, for being a real man of genius! we salute you and offer you a tasty cold beverage for us to toast you with! the time that flies by from week to week kills me when you get to the next weekend and realize that time is just whipping by. Riley is 10 months old today. teeth, thinking about walking and crawling around, and getting ready to tell us just what she thinks. I guess it's a good thing that we all have things in our life that make us remember it's a pretty cool world to live in. sorry for waxing nostalgic, but the coolness of your child waving goodbye and making you feel like a million bucks with just a small gesture like that is something new to me, and I'm reveling in it! (thanks for making me stop and smell the roses, MT, our conversation last night about kids growing up and the years flying by did not go unheard!)

anyway, we're in the middle of a weekend and I'm finally getting to the weekly news. sitting in the Gusto's bandhouse using a handy wireless connection and watching that Paul Giamatti (sp?) wine movie. noise on in the background. we're off to the rusty nail tonight, and if it hasn't made the schedule, we have nailed down the mardi gras party of the year up at the Matterhorn at Sunday river this coming Tuesday! there will be reps from a bunch of the big name companies including jager, Guinness, Roxy and many more to help get your bodies in motion! I realize that this is a Tuesday, and it's in Maine, but we're expecting this one to be off the hook! come up if you can, or I'll do my best to fill everyone in on the details.

One word, unbelievable! Take one of the most well known ski mountains in the East, add a great bar, and put a bunch of people that are out to have a great time to it, and you have last Saturday at the Wobbly Barn at Killington. According to the guys at the door, somewhere between 800 and 1000 through the door on Saturday night, and we had a blast! Add the Bacardi girls, a couple of Guinness girls and a ton of peeps filling the joint, and how could we not have a good time? All I can say is thanks to all for joining us and making it one for the record books.

On a sad side note, dear friend and music industry rep extraordinaire Chris Ross died suddenly this past week. Chris was a name most have probably never heard, but he was one of the true good guys, and like many has now passed way before his time. He will be missed, he will be remembered fondly, and his positive nature will be hard to ever forget. The next Corona by the trash can at the bar closest to the Audix booth is on me. As a fellow motorcycle rider, I will be looking into organizing a ride in his memory. So, keep it shiny side up, and remember the good ones that affect our lives and make us strive to be better people. Rest in peace, Chris, and we will keep you in our hearts.

Sorry for the confusion on the Electra date last Friday, I hope that if you went expecting to see us, that you had a good time with the Revampt crew. Not sure what happened, but we'll be back at Electra in April! Last weekend at the Matterhorn in Maine is proving why we love this place for ski season - great crowds, great food and good attitudes. Mr. Eric Stone took some time from his new schedule and traveled with us on Saturday, providing setup and teardown help, and a couple of songs to boot! Thanks to E for coming back and having fun with us when he can.

This weekend is another Friday off so we can gear up for Saturday at the Wobbly Barn. There are some holes in our schedule now, and I'm trying to be a better than "gone all the time" musician father, so we're putting some dates in the sched to make sure I get some play time with my baby, and my baby! This will make us all happier in the long run, and make sure I don't miss important things like walking, talking and her first date! At any rate, I'll be hanging with my daughter on Friday, and we'll be cranking it up at the Wobbly on Saturday! This is our second and last time at the Barn for the season. After several years of not playing at Killington we are stoked to be back, and hope that we can get a couple more dates up there next season so we can get back in the swing of things at the mountain.

Sorry for a foul-up in the booking world, we are not at Electra tonight, and will not be back there until April. Not sure what happened, but the snafu is what it is, and we'll be taking the night off. Revampt is playing at Electra if you're headed that way, so please go check them out!

Nothing like food poisoning and hard work to make a couple of weeks go by quickly! Thankfully all is better on the stomach front, and we can focus on things to come. 2009 is shaping up to be busy and fun, and we're looking forward to it! Lots of new songs coming, new shirts and hats for the boys and girls, and all kinds of new toys to play with! The derryfield and matterhorn were a blast this past weekend, even though the temperatures were a bit chilly. Load em in, put in a new battery and go for it! We'll be planning on similar temps this weekend by the sounds of it.

Coming up is the busiest time of the year for us. Ski season is upon us, and the time just flies by. We're having a great time with all our friends around the mountains, and hope you can come play with us as well!

This weekend, we'll start at Gusto's in Barre, and then finish it off in Stowe at the Nail. Hope you can make it!

Well I promised a more involved newsletter for this week, since we've been out and about a lot at the beginning of 09! 2008 proved itself to be a year with a lot of great things happening for LKP, and some cool personal life things for me. I just have to say being a dad is pretty darn cool, and Riley is the greatest little girl. I look forward to all the dad experiences that people have been telling me to get ready for, and I'll wait my time for the first date for my little girl - you know, like 15 to 20 years from now will be just fine! With the little one keeping a smile on my face, and being a good little sleeper, I am thankful for a great home life.

With the band, I'm thankful for the time that Eric was able to put in with us, and his presence will be missed. Along with all the other former members of LKP, we hope that you can still make it out from time to time, and sit in a spell! I am also thankful for Mike being available to join us in E's need to move on. It's a great thing when you can find another player who is capable of stepping up and joining the fun that we have. We look forward to the years to come, and keep plugging away at the long list of gigs that Mikey will be doing with us!

January 17 2009 will mark the start of the 13th year of last kid picked. This is a record by a long shot for any other band I've been in. Jason's been in this band longer than the other 2 bands I was in before this combined! It's funny to look back at the changes from the days of KAOS, with our amazing 2 light light show, and the 2 pickup trucks full of equipment. Then the Reactors, which brought the first round of Eric and I playing together, and growing up into the truck and trailer method. Now the bigger truck, and more STUFF is the answer to the "anything worth doing is worth overdoing!" statement. I am thankful for all that I have learned, all the people I have played with, and all the gigs that have passed through my many moons on the road.

As nostalgia takes its toll, I will give some long overdue awards, and will forget some that are deserved, so I apologize if I miss any, and hope to be reminded of items and people worthy of mention in my silly little weekly blurb.

One down and a bunch to go! Mike hit the stage and jumped right in with both feet. We're looking forward to when he actually gets a few more gigs under his belt and can enjoy himself instead of trying to remember all the things he's learned in the past month and a half! We had a great time breaking him in up in Newport, and we hope that all the friends that came out had as much fun as we did! Special thanks to the Nail crew for making the trip and hanging out with us. We had a blast!

This weekend is a southern New Hampshire double shot with Friday at the Derryfield, and Saturday at Whippersnappers. This hopefully means that everyone in the manch area can get a chance to come out and play. It's not often lately that we have done a Saturday at Whips, so we'll be seein' ya! The Derryfield has been great every time (except for monsoon night!) and we are stoked at how much fun we have there. Plan on a great weekend and we'll see you out there.

Well it has definitely been a week of the torch being passed. Not only did we elect a new President this week, but the torch was passed from Eric to Mike. We'll be starting the new era tonight in Newport VT, and we're looking forward to the future with great reverence and remembrance of the past. All the best to E in his job, and come out and support our new boy as he gets his feet wet!

This Halloween was one of the best for costumes that we have seen in years. It is always great to see the ingenuity and frivolity that is generated from being able to dress up! Now we know why a man in a dress is always happy!? From the Crayons to Pocahontas to ghoulish knife thrower's assistants to Zena, queen of the jungle, the costumes ran the gamut and were great to see. Our special thanks to our additional kids on both nights that rounded out our Addams Family - Carolyn, Jess, Katrina and Clay for giving us the sheer numbers to round out the big and twisted family. Check out the pics, i think most of ours are up, and there are some beauties!

Special thanks to Kris Hansen for some great photos, and his work on the website, it is, as always a thankless job. Also, thanks to Daughtry for taking the stage with us on the 31st!

Man, time flies in the fall, and the snow is on the way! Head for the mountains and see the white stuff sooner if you're jonesin' for some skiing. It'll be here soon enough! We're up for the cooler temps as we get into the season, but we'll take it slow if we can.

We are now down to 3 gigs and counting for our beloved bass boy Eric. Come out and say hey, I'm sure he'll be back from time to time to show us his best dance moves! Bust out a break dance, Turbo! As we look toward the new version with Mike, we are psyched that he is fitting in just like we thought at practice, but we still will miss our boy, and will never forget the gigs that he has done. Cheers to a great player and all around funny man. I will have to share my brain with someone new now.

This weekend puts us in Londonderry at Whips tonight, and the annual Halloween dance at the Newport Opera House tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's sold out yet, but it usually is a packed house, so call the box office and put together your best costume!

Next weekend is the Halloween night festivities at the Rusty Nail. We'll bust out the costumes again, and have a blast with all our crazy friends in Stowe. You don't want to miss this one!

Thanks to those who came out to the benefit for the Bashaw family on Sunday at the Paradise beach club in the Weirs. It was a great time to catch up with all of Doug's friends and family, and get a chance to remember a great guy. Doug, you will be missed.

A crazy couple of weeks make me feel like I'm saying I'm sorry more often than I should. Busy times mean Friday morning quarterbacking the news of the week instead of getting it out earlier. I am sorry. Updates on the website schedule have been taken care of, so you have us through the end of the year. Winter is coming fast, so the ski areas are booked for the most part, and we'll be going crazy as soon as the snow flies!

Well, I mentioned last installment that we had some big news. The search for the newest kid has found ourselves with a familiar face to some and a new face to others. As Eric leaves our ranks, and will be sorely missed and always welcomed back to yuk it up with us, we now welcome the new bassist/vocalist to LKP, Mr. Mike Sherman. Mike is the bassist from Jason's former band Zenflower, and was a logical choice when we started looking. A bass player that sings, HMMM, I wonder what Mikey's up to? Well it just so happens that he was available and interested. We hope you all get a chance to meet him as we transition to the new lineup after Halloween. Eric's last gig will be Halloween night at the Rusty Nail in Stowe, so bring your cakes, scotch, and best costume to the Nail for the festivities. We look forward to the transition, and say thanks to E for a number of great years, and all the best for his future, musical or otherwise! We'll be sure to have as much fun as possible in the next few weeks to make sure that Eric heads out with a bang.

The other major exciting news for the winter is our return to the Wobbly Barn at Killington. It's been a few years since we've played there, and we always had a blast. With a number of changes at the Barn, we're looking forward to the chance to take the stage there again, and have some fun! we'll be there on Saturday, December 20, and again in February on the 7th. Unfortunately, the days of 2 nights at the mountain are over, but this means there will be a ton of great entertainment up there, and we can look forward to a couple of great Saturdays. mark it down on your schedule, and come up and play with us!

Along with the Wobbly, we have booked several dates at our favorite haunts, the Rusty Nail at Stowe, and the Matterhorn Ski Bar at Sunday River. This means a ton of ski weekends on the books for us, and we hope you can plan your powder trips accordingly! Starting with New years, and rocking through to the middle of April, we'll be having a blast, and checking our snow tires.

this weekend has us at the end of the season at one location, and gearing up at another. we'll be rocking the house tonight at the Anchorage in Sunapee as the harbor winds down after another great season. Thanks to Glenn and Karlie for another fun summer, and we'll see you next spring to kick it off all over again.

the weather was great, three gigs and a blast on all three days. more sunshine than we've seen all summer, and tons of happy faces at all the gigs. we couldn't ask for anything more. Friday at whips was crowded with new faces and a bunch of the regulars that we love to see. while we always see a ton of familiar faces at the anchorage, there was a whole slew of new ones, and we enjoyed laughing and having a great time with you fools on Saturday. Sunday was a great day to play outdoors with fantastic weather, a fly by with the DHART helicopter and some air show smoke blowers who kicked off the Rollins ride in Newport. there were over 300 bikes, and a good time was had by all, especially LKP since we got to listen to Newport's own Ground Cover for a great set, and some afternoon fun in the sun.

this weekend is another three-fer with gusto's Friday, the outback Saturday, and stewstocapaloozaroofest on Sunday. the weather looks great for another outdoor Sunday gig, so get ready for it and get your buns down to stew's. we'll be traveling fools and having a great time this weekend, so don't miss it, summer's now headed out, so we'll aim for a few more nice days before we get the snow tires out!

A weekend off will do wonders for getting stuff done around the house, and being able to catch up on weekend activities that the average band person doesn't get to do. So, with the engines recharged, we're up and ready to head off into the great wide open and have a killer weekend! August always seems to be the month where there is some time off, and we get a chance to relax a little bit, so we'll ease back into this weekend with one night, and then go all crazy next weekend! We're heading downstairs to the Front Row Sports Tavern on Friday night, and it's been a while since we've been up there. We hope that you can all come out and put on your party hats for some fun in the coolest little spot in St. J!

The following weekend, we'll be all over the map. We're hitting whips on Friday the 22nd, the anchorage in Sunapee on the 23rd, and then finishing out the weekend at the Rollins Ride on Sunday afternoon with our friends Ground Cover opening up the show at 2pm. Check out www.rollinsride.com for information on this motorcycle ride for the fallen, in memory of Newport's Justin Rollins, who was killed in Iraq in 2007. The ride leaves Newport High School at 10:30 am, and returns to the Newport High School at 2pm for BBQ, and 2 bands for some entertainment in the sun (come on sun!). This is an event we did last year, and had a great time. We should be well rested since we're at the ANK the night before, and we may even hop on and go for the ride if it all works out! Check it out and come support the scholarship fund that they are raising money for.

That should cover us for a while, we're getting ready for fall, and still looking for the person to stand in Eric's shoes, so tell your bass player friends to give a healthy gig schedule and some greenbacks a chance. Fall's looking busy, and we're getting stoked up for it!

After a great, albeit hot, night at gusto's, we packed up the wagons and headed to Maine, stopping off along the way to catch a 200+year old church that got struck by lightning (the benefits of the day job!) and then hit the stage Saturday night for a packed house at Rick's Cafe. We had the pleasure of hanging out with German Dave and a few other rabble rousers who were out enjoying themselves this past weekend, and got the chance to have some fun on Long Lake with some fantastic weather! We had a blast and hope that you did as well.

This coming weekend, we're returning to Manchester to the Derryfield for our first time there. Please come out and join us in kicking off our new favorite place in Manch to play! We want the dance floor packed, and everyone having a great time, so come have some fun on the deck in the afternoon, and then crank it up and dance the night away! Saturday has us returning for the Mont Vernon Fire Department dance. We did this one a couple of years ago, and had a blast. The weather should be kind, and the fun should be huge! 2 great nights. Whips rocked with some new faces and some regulars as well, and we had a blast with all the crazies that came out. Special thanks to Ross and his crew on Friday night for being good sports, and sticking around late night. We appreciate the effort and hope to see you again soon! Saturday night at Rick's was a fantastic return to Maine, and the crowd was there to have fun! We kicked it out with the locals, and a bunch of vacationers and had a ball. The fourth was great. It was our first time up in Bath, ME for their Heritage Days, and it's like turning the main street of any town into a fair complete with rides, great food, and music. We had a blast. The sound guys were great, easy to get along with, and fun, and the staff running the event took great care of us, and made us feel like rock stars. Elvis opened for us, and the fireworks were our intermission. Couldn't get much better, I'd say! We hope that they'll have us back again next year!

Saturday, we returned to the Rusty Nail and met all kinds of peeps from all over the world. Hello Peru! Hello South Africa! How's the weather down

there? Again, we had a great time, and as always, the staff made us feel like the family we are. Well, enough about last week, let's look at the next two!

This weekend has us back at Whippersnappers on Friday, and our first time back at Rick's Cafe in Naples, ME on Saturday. Both shows should be a blast, since we haven't been to either place in a month to a year! The weather looks good, and the fun will be rampant. Come out and have some fun! Next weekend we have Friday off, but we'll be making up for it at the Connecticut Valley Fair in Bradford, VT on Saturday. We're rockin' it at the Bath, Maine heritage days tonight from 8 to 10:30 with a fireworks interlude at 9:15. If you are up there, please make it out and have some fun! Saturday is the return to the Rusty Nail for a great night of fun and entertainment. We'll be looking for you on the biggest dance floor in 9 counties!

So without any delay, here's the bad news: Bass player and long time bud Eric has started a new day job, and it's the job he's been looking for for a while. Unfortunately, the new day job will not allow him to play in the band with us any more. We've looked at a bunch of ways to try and make this work, but it just isn't going to pan out. The rest of us will miss his presence, antics and all around great involvement in LKP. As Eric transitions into the new job we will start our search for his replacement. We've been very happy with the current lineup, and he's gonna be a hard one to replace. Our assumption is that we will be transitioning the new guy (or girl?) in somewhere in the October/November area, and we'll make sure everyone gets a chance to see our boy a few more times before he heads off to responsibility! We hope that when he has the chance, he'll come back and sit in with us from time to time, and kick out a few with us. All the best to the big Fische, and we'll miss ya!

So, that being said, anyone know any singing bass players? Have 'em give us a call at the cell below, or email me at info or john@lastkidpicked.com. Transitions in bands are always cool yet challenging times, and this was one that I hoped would never happen. But, you can't fault a guy for taking his dream job, especially when you pointed him toward it!

As mentioned above, we're in Bath, ME tonight, and Stowe tomorrow. We'll be back at Whips next Friday, and start off the season at Ricks in Naples, ME next Saturday.

What a crazy month! I've been here, I've been there, I've been darn near everywhere! great gigs, and great weather, barring the recent rain have made for a quick moving June. We've spent some time in st. j, some time in Sunapee and some time in Vegas, to name a few, and we've got some cool ones coming up as well. the update on Vegas was the yearly Infocomm show, which was for the day job. Jason and I got to see all the really cool new products, and get a chance to see some neat stuff without having to buy it. Good times were had by all. we hit 2 of the
3 rides on top of the Stratosphere, we hit Hoover dam and we hit 118 degrees at the dam just to add insult to injury. but, it's a DRY heat.
That being said, we had a blast and got to catch up with sales reps, take some classes and generally get smarter.

Baby update - as of today, Riley is 11 pounds, 12 ounces and 23.5 inches. Our little one is growing fast and sleeping through the night at 10 weeks! Yay mom and dad! Some actual sleep is not a bad thing.

Coming up this weekend, we'll be cranking it up at Electra tomorrow night. Happy birthday, Sandy, we'll have a blast with your party tomorrow and we've invited a bunch of people to come celebrate with you!
We hope that you all can make it to the upper valley and have some fun with us. Big dance floor, and tons of bar space, along with great food and plenty of free parking! Is that all the cool amenities? Heck no!
How about shooter girls and go go cages! Electra has it all, so come and take a little slice home with ya!

Next weekend is July 4, and we'll be heading up to Bath, ME for their heritage days. We'll be taking the stage from around 8 pm and playing until 10, 10:30. come up and have some fun in Bath with us. It's one of the few times I can say, "come take a Bath with us!". On Saturday the 5th, we'll be returning to the rusty Nail in Stowe for the night, and that should be a hoot as well. Put on your dancin' shoes kids, and strap in, it's gonna be a fun one!

We hope that you all have a great and safe next couple of weeks. We'll be looking for your faces in the crowd at Loudon for the NASCAR race on Sunday, and we'll be sitting on the couch relaxing cuz we can.

Sorry for the lack o newsletter last week. Blame it on the baby! There's a good excuse. Or, blame it on a crazy week at work. Never can tell, all those things just seem to gang up on you from time to time. We had a couple of great weeks. Getting back up to Newport VT was a long time coming, as well as a fun trip to CT to play with my drummer from college Keith and his cohorts. We had a great time on both occasions. Last week at the Nail was family weekend of Memorial day, so it wasn't as crowded as usual, but was still a bunch of people who were there to have a great time and dance a ton! We had a blast on all occasions and are ready for more as we head into this weekend.

This weekend has us in Barre on Friday and Nashua on Saturday. We'll be hanging with the homeboys at gusto's for a killer night as always, and then head south to the great city of Nashua for a night at the Sky Lounge. The Sky has changed its layout so my understanding is the stage is now up where the pool tables were, and there is more space for us to fly the lights! Come check it out this Saturday and we'll look forward to a great time had by all!

Well another great week has passed by. we had a great time up in the North country with Matt, Becca and the rest of the crew at the Outback. Don't forget the world's greatest breakfast sandwich in the morning on the way home! We got back into the swing of things after some time off for the little one, and got back on the horse and rode into the sunset!

Monday night at the Derryfield was a fun time as well (note to self - don't do the Outfield without your normal monitor setup, you will miss notes and feel like a shlub!). The benefit for the Manchester apartment fire victims and the Red Cross raised around $2500. Not bad for a Monday night! We had fun, and saw enough familiar faces to make it feel like home. we'll see you at the Derryfield starting in August, so check that out later in the summer!

This weekend has us returning to the Front Row in St. Johnsbury, VT. Our last time there was cancelled due to the creeping crud I had back in february. Now that that is gone, we'll be looking for all our old friends to come out and have a blast. Hey Stowe! With mud season in effect, come on over! Route 2 is always fun travel! Also, we'll be opening the Anchorage in Sunapee on Saturday. The doors opened last night for the season, but we'll be kicking the doors open and dancing in the streets on saturday! Come on down and join us for a great time!

Ok, first things first. On Monday, April 21, Amanda gave birth to our daughter, Riley Avery DeGange. 12:38 pm, 7 pounds, 2 ounces, 20.5 inches. All of us are doing well, and getting used to the schedule that a newborn creates. We're happy, and having fun, and getting back into the schedule of music as well!

The Derryfield Country Club and the following bands: Last Kid Picked, Josh Logan Band, Endangered Species, Mirage, The Grinning Lizards and Ron Adams are putting all their talents together on Monday, May 5, 2008 to help raise money for the American Red Cross local relief disaster funds which has helped so many victims of the recent fire here in Manchester, NH and will aid in the support of future victims. The Derryfield Country Club is located at 625 Mammoth Rd. Manchester, NH and the phone # is (603) 623-2880. Monday, May 5 is Cinco De Mayo so please come out and celebrate for a good cause.
