lkp upcoming dates

Can you say snafu, kids? I thought you could. Well, we will be in Nashua at Sky Lounge on Friday, but the Brimmer date got messed up, and we’ll be off on Saturday. So, this means everyone needs to come to Nashua and check out Sky Friday and have some fun with the kid! We’ll also be helping out at the Jam for Cam on Sunday at Whippersnappers. More on this event to follow. We had a blast this past weekend with Gusto’s on Wednesday, and then Keith’s wedding on Saturday. Too much fun, and now we can get ready for the holidays. Plenty of fun coming up in December, so get the shopping done early, and prepare for the snow. It looks like it’s gonna be a wild one this winter!

As mentioned, there is a benefit on Sunday at Whippersnappers for bartender Kim’s son Cam. Cam has recently been diagnosed with leukemia, and some bands are getting together to help raise some funds so Kim can be able to deal with the travel and time that is involved with treatment. LKP along with several other bands will be playing on Sunday, and we hope you can come and support Kim and Cam, and have some fun with some crazy musicians on Sunday. The event is running from 3 until it’s done, with the following lineup of bands:

3-4 PM - The Hot Tamales
4-5 PM - Stu Sinclair & Never in Vegas
5-6 PM - Desmond
6-7 PM - Mama Kicks
7-8 PM - Last Kid Picked
8-9 PM - Souled Out Show Band
9-11 PM - The customary jam session for anyone who would like to come up.

We’ll be hitting the stage around 7, with stand in bassist Brother Keith. Eric’s wife Carolyn is in the VT Symphony and has a gig on Sunday that Eric needs to be at, so we’ll hand over the reins to Keith for our set on Sunday and have some fun. Please come out and join us for this event. It’s not often that all us musicians can get together, and who knows what will transpire. We’re looking forward to it and helping out Kim and Cam! For more information, check out www.whippersnappersnh.com or call whips at 603-434-2660.

In a series of sad notes, my thoughts go out to a string of friends and family that we have lost in the past couple of weeks. Uncle Hank Lysaght, Tom Kopp, Bob Kimball, Kathy Slattery Phillips and Great Aunt Mae. I’m thinking of you all and often. We’ll miss you. I’m pretty well set with the loss of friends and family for a while. So, let’s keep on living, and remember all the good times with our families and friends throughout the holiday season, as well as throughout the year.

In a chance to catch up on a couple of awards:

The not so crazy bi*&*^ award goes to Jessica, you’ll just have to be more controversial the next time we see you!

The bodacious Binghamton babes award goes to the girls from NY that had a blast with us at the Yard. Thanks and we’ll see ya!

The 14+15+15 award goes to Logan. Well, the total’s pretty close to your average!

The worst political commercials/endorsements award is a trifecta –

Rudy - are you choking and they cut the video too late for us not to see your need to turn your head and adjust?
Mike Huckabee – I can understand Chuck Norris, but Rick Flair?
Hillary – if you want us to respect you, don’t have the hospital absorb the cost, how about have the insurance company step up?
Any others that annoy/interest you?

lkp upcoming dates

Whips and the Blazer rocked this past weekend. We had fantastic crowds at both places with some duper dancing and virtually no problems other than some wiring and one woman (more later). It was great to see the usual suspects out having a good time, and the continual addition of more friends and cohorts is always a good thing. We look forward to seeing more of all of you as the years progress. We’re also looking forward to this weekend with a night at the Nail and a return to the Yard, so look out! Two big dance floors, and plenty of reasons to have fun, so put your Tony Manero starter kit on and get it on!

I’d like to thank the people that came out on Sunday to support the Vaydas, there were few of you, but we still all had fun. It’s weird how sometimes everyone gets together and goes to the benefits on Sunday, and other times there are just other things to do. We thank the few that showed up, and hope that the next benefit has a better turnout. Maybe more advance advertising, or something will make the difference. We’ll just have to see…

This week’s awards go to:

The momentary dyslexia award goes to Eric for his creative wiring on Saturday…

The Red Sox pitching award goes to our dancing friend – 3 strikes and you’re out, baby. When you continually step on, fall over and generally damage stuff on stage, it’s time for you to dance somewhere else. When you are asked to take a break and dance away from the stage and then give us the finger, it’s time for you to go. I had fun telling the bouncers to throw you out. I hope to have fun doing it again because you seem like the type of person that doesn’t learn from your drunken mistakes, you are just destined to repeat them. Come on back, we’ll do it again!

The long distance award goes to the boys from Maine who made the trip to Whips and had a blast. We’ll see you again? Drive safe, it’s a long way from Madawaska, or wherever you came from, so keep up the good work and we’ll see you on the dance floor!

The dance school award goes to Nate. When you teach your new lady friend to do the MJ dance moves, we want to see it first!

The memorabilia award goes to Devy T, for her acquisition of sticks, picks, etc.

And the narcolepsy award goes to all the late night drivers who had to get their partying friends home – especially the cab drivers.

lkp upcoming dates

This is a busy one, and a fun one to boot. After a weekend off, consisting of painting the hallway on a Saturday night and hitting the couch before the start of the first set, I guess it’s time to crank it up. Halloween weekend was nuts. We had our first Friday at the Sky Lounge in Nashua, and it was a tough sell. We had a great time in the room, but sandwiched between Sox games and Halloween parties, we’re hoping that more people come out this month to check us out in this club. It should be a blast when there isn’t so much other stuff going on to compete with! That being said, the Blazer was filled with great costumes, lots of happy faces and some crazy antics. More in the awards as we get there…

This weekend should be one for the record books, Friday at Whips in Londonderry, Saturday at the Blazer with no costumes, and then a benefit on Sunday in Laconia at Goodfella’s tavern. The benefit is for the Vayda family. Some of you may have heard the story, some may not. Last fall, Bob Vayda was in a motorcycle accident that disabled him. His son Jerry came home to help run the family construction business. On New Years Eve, Jerry was struck and killed by a truck that was being driven by his best friend. The family is looking to finish an over the ground apartment to supplement their income, and LKP and other bands have been asked to help. Boston musician Gifford Campbell has organized this event. Some of you may know Gifford from playing in the Laconia area with the bands Lulu’s in Crisis, The Replicators and Grounds for Divorce. Gifford is one of those guys that has his heart in the right place, and we’re looking forward to helping out. By the looks of it, the schedule will be a sports memorabilia auction from noon to 1:30, and then bands throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Giff will be starting the day off, then Ground Cover, which consists of Jason’s brother, Keith; Kyle’s brother, Logan; and most of us from LKP. Their singer can’t make it, so Eric and I will be splitting the vocal duties, and Jay will hit some guitar to fill out a bunch of songs that we know, but never play in LKP! We’re looking forward to this midday set, and then cranking it up to finish the night. The event should be winding up somewhere in the 7 to 8 pm region. Donations at the door are slated for $10, and I’m assuming there will be the auction, raffles, etc. throughout the day. If you have the chance to come play with us and support a good cause, please do so. Check out the full press release link on our website, and additional info at www.goodfellastavernandgrill.com.

This week, the awards go to:

The flying Wallenda’s award goes to the marionettes, what great costumes!

The claustrophobia award goes to the Barbie in a box.

The hung jury award goes to Chafed, the band “swinging” in the other room on Halloween. Thanks guys, we had a blast!

The persistent award goes to Dracula – Happy birthday Jen, one more #$%^ time!

This one gets several monikers:

The howl at the moon award goes to…

The Little Red Riding Hard award goes to…

The open late night or later award goes to…

The Pretenders “brass in pocket” lyric award goes to…(I think that 2 people may get this one!)
