lkp upcoming dates

The nail, let’s just say it’s always interesting at the nail. We got set up, had a great night, although I think we wore out most of the people, or they had to work on Saturday. The last set cleared out to the die-hards, and we rolled up to the end with some more impromptu Kate songs which have become the staple of late night times at the nail. I can’t say they’re the best songs I’ve ever come up with, but they are hopefully funny and good natured if nothing else. That being said, the weekend was a busy one despite the single gig. There were plenty of photo ops that I missed on Friday, and the camera needs to get out of the case more often. It’s hard to remember in the middle of a song to pick it up and snap a few candids for the website. New year’s resolution, more pix, more pix.

This weekend is a Friday off, Saturday Brimmer and Sunday Stew deal. We’ll be rockin’ the brimmer on Saturday, and then ring in labor day with stew’s party on Sunday. If you know Sunapee, and you know where stew is, come on down for bands, fireworks, etc. I believe it’s 25 a head maybe less after dinner. You know the way, come down and play!

Next weekend is a NH duo with Electra on Friday and the Outback on Saturday. So get ready for fall, it’s coming fast!

This week’s awards go to:

The outta here award goes to Ben, have a great time in DC, and keep in touch!

The buck hunter award goes to the staff at the Nail. Wow, I’m glad it’s not a real gun

The doe killer award goes to me, for sucking so badly at that game.

The marathon award goes to Jay for driving all over creation this weekend

And the narcolepsy award goes to me, I think I’d have done better on buck hunter if my eyes were open!

lkp upcoming dates

The three day weekends are a blast, but man, they take a while to recover from! Friday night in Newport, VT was all it was cracked up to be. A bunch of fun kids came out to play, and despite the confusion over the last minute change from the East side outdoors – thankfully we switched since it rained – to the Rendezvous didn’t keep the folks away. We had a great time and we’ll catch up with those who couldn’t make it next time!

Saturday at the Blazer was also a fantastic time. As always, great food, tons of happy peeps and all sorts of shenanigans. We’ll just have to assume that everyone had as good a time as we did, and hope that we can do it again real soon.

unday was a great bike ride, even though I didn’t get to ride. The final numbers were right around 400 bikes, so there were like 600 people there, and they were all having a great time, and supporting a good cause. Special thanks to Keith and Logan for sitting in with us since Eric couldn’t be there. Keith did the bass parts, and Logan caught a bunch of vocals and did some fine guitar work as well. They really stepped up and made it look easy. Also thanks to John Ricci for hooking us up with power, and Lavalley’s for the flatbed to play off of. A great time was had by all, and we’ll look forward to doing it again next year.

Coming up this weekend, we’ll be having a blast at the Rusty Nail Friday night, and we’ll be taking Saturday off. So a busy weekend followed by a light one so we can recover. It all works out in the end. Hope that you can make it to the nail and have some fun with us!

This week’s awards go to:

The Handbasket award goes to Tyler for his late night jokes and fun. Where is my handbasket?

The breakin’ the law award goes to Kaiti, Ali, and Logan for making it in under the wire

The good egg award goes to Eric for putting up with my comments on Saturday, no matter how funny they were!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all of us by the end of Sunday night!

UPCOMING DATES!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24

lkp upcoming dates

The final weekend of the season in Maine was a great one. We had such a great time with the staff, and saw so many repeat offenders this past weekend that it made it a great way to end the season up there. We’ll be back next summer, probably just on Saturdays, Fridays always seemed a bit slow due to people still traveling, so we’ll make more fun of the single night setup next time around. That being said, Friday was a blast, Saturday was a little bizarre. Maybe it was the moon, or something in the water, but there were a bunch of people who decided that the stage was where they needed to be, and a microphone was what they needed in their hand. To the bachelorette party, when someone asks you to take your pictures, but leave the stuff alone, replying with “someone said it was ok” is not the correct answer. I hope you had fun, but hands off the merchandise! Also, to the blond woman, when you start trying to turn the microphone on to use it, you should probably have a little class in signal flow. I have several places down the line that I can mute you, so trying to gain access to a mic to sing, just because you want to, is probably not a good way to make you my friend. More on this in the awards…

This coming weekend is a busy one. We’ll be up at the Rendezvous in Newport, VT on Friday. This date is taking over for the East Side street fest that has been cancelled. The folks at the Rendezvous were kind enough to take the date and make sure that we got a night to play up in the North country! Saturday is our return to the Red Blazer in Concord, and we’ll be having a blast there. Sunday is a benefit motorcycle ride in memory of Justin Rollins. Please check our website for all the info on the ride. If you just want to come see us play, we’ll start shortly after 2, and play until about 5. 8 dollars is the donation if you’re not planning on riding. This sounds like there may be well over 3-400 bikes, so if you like to ride, it starts at Newport high school, registration starts at 8, ride starts at 10. The band will be playing at the Newport VFW, on the hill heading west toward Claremont, on the left. Brother Keith Ricci will be joining us, as Eric has box seats for the sox, and has had those for months, so we can’t deny him some sweet seats. Keith will fill in on the bass, and then we’ll all roll down the hill to the common, as his band along with our drummer Kyle will play the concerts on the common from 6 until? A great day of music in Newport. Pray for good weather, and let’s raise some money for the Justin Rollins scholarship fund!

Next weekend, we’ll be off Saturday the 25th, but we’ll be rocking the Rusty Nail on Friday the 24th! It should be a great night at the nail, and we’ll see you all there?

This week’s awards go to:

The cookie man award goes to our new friend and Yankees fan who showed up with a batch of some fine choco chip discs of wonderment. I hope you’re feeling ok, since you had to leave early on Saturday. Thanks for the cookies, and we’ll accept more any time!

The Dale senior award goes to the “intimidator” on Saturday night. If you are trying to scare us, or guilt us out for not letting your wife sing through MY microphone, the best way to do it is not to stand in front of each member of the band and attempt to have a staring contest - especially when we are singing Banditos. Those not familiar, the chorus is “everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people”. This guy stood right in front of us, “intimidating” and didn’t seem to realize that the rest of the room was laughing AT him. Well done, Mike, I think your name was, come back any time and be the butt of our jokes!

The famous person sighting award goes to Natalie Portman and George Foreman. Pretty good stand ins if I do say so.

And the narcolepsy award goes to everyone who needed a nap on Saturday afternoon.

UPCOMING DATES!

lkp upcoming dates

An abbreviated weekend of only one gig is an unusual setup for us, so a lazy Friday turns into a great Saturday at the Brimmer! It had been a long time since we had seen some of the faces out there, and it was fantastic to see you back! We had a great night, it always seems to go by so fast. For some reason, maybe the fact that it’s august, there were more bachelorettes there than I think I have ever seen. Tons of tiaras (great name for a band) and bridesmaids to be, what more can a band ask for, sparkly things and overindulging! I have to say, it’s been a while since we were there on a Saturday, and we’re glad to be back.

This coming weekend is our last weekend at Rick’s Café in Naples, Maine this season. We’ve had a blast with Ryan and his crew, had some great weather, and some OK weather over the course of things, and we’re looking forward to this weekend to cap off our summer season in this great little resort. Take the weekend and come up, you won’t be disappointed. We’ll put the zip back in your step, and load you up on vim and vigor (let’s kick it out old school, shall we?). the following weekend has some changes in it, and a benefit on Sunday so here is the update: The outdoor gig at the East side in Newport has been moved to the Rendezvous in Newport, VT, so we’ll be indoors, but in the same town on Friday the 17th. Saturday is still at the Red Blazer in Concord. Sunday the 19th is a benefit ride in Newport, NH (details to come early next week). We’ll be playing about 2:30 to 5ish on Sunday afternoon, raising money for a scholarship fund at NHS in memory of Justin Rollins. We’ll have all the details, and it sounds like the motorcycle ride will start at about 9 am and get back to the final location in Newport by about 2. I’ll post the whole info as soon as I get it. We’ll see you all there, and it will all be clear by early next week.

This week’s awards go to:

The rock star treatment award goes to Lori and the crew with the limo outside the brimmer for some pre-gig antics!

The long time no see award goes to Becky, Chris and Natalie, as well as Ally, for coming back out and playing with us. Great to see you!

The up all night award goes to GO FAST. Don’t drink it an hour before bed time. Hey, it has Australian honey in it, so you know it’s good!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all of us for Friday night, hitting the couch and not going out!

lkp upcoming dates

Lots to talk about this week, as I kinda missed it last week. We had a killer weekend in Maine, tons of new faces and a lot of the familiar ones up there. we’ve got one more weekend coming up on the 10th and 11th of august, so make your plans early and come up to maine to play! We hung out at a private party on Winnipesaukee on Friday, and despite the heat, had a great time. Thanks, Brian and the crew for having us back after all these years. Saturday rolled in to Sunapee harbor for a little fun at the Anchorage. We had a great crowd, lots of folks in the harbor, a huge wedding up the hill, and plenty of revelry on the shores of Sunapee. Thanks to all those that came out and danced their heads off all night. We wish that the Ank went to 1, but the town makes the bands stop at midnight. I hope the night wasn’t too short, and that the 2 long set method worked better. We had a lot of fun, and the weather held out for the few that came by boat. More sun! let’s get some summer in here!

On Tuesday, I had the chance to go see the Police down in Connecticut. What a show. I want that light show. Um, can I borrow a couple mil and some trucks? The band sounded fantastic, the lights and sound more than made up for the fact that Sting, Andy and Stewart didn’t move much. Of course the fact that they are a 3 piece that sounds huge might mean that they have their hands full, so I’m not going to complain at all. My only negative was the tool in front of us in his white rimmed sunglasses – hello, the 80’s called, and they don’t want you back either – standing up talking on his cell phone trying to wave to his friends in worse seats. I guess I can’t fault him for being too dumb to notice that a band was playing, so we’ll just have to let him wallow in his own little world of loserdom. Copeland reminded me of why I like his playing – tight, snappy and dead on. Sting’s vocals were as good as the old days, despite 25 years, and Summers’ guitar was muddy at first and got much better as the night went on. Well worth the price of admission.

This weekend, we’ll be taking Friday off for a little r and r. Maybe we’ll get a chance to go see some other bands! I always have great plans, but end up asleep at like 9, and never make it out. We’ll be back at the Brimmer on Saturday, for the first time in a long time. Come on out and celebrate the dog days of summer and we’ll party like it’s, well, 2007.

The awards go to:

The better door than a window award goes to the above mentioned cheesy sunglasses at night wearing, stage blocking uberdouche.

The handy feature award goes to the showers complete with all the accoutrements at our gig on Friday. Made me smell like an old golfer, though.

The domino award goes to the birthday girl on Saturday, whose friends wanted her closer to the stage and proceeded to knock a bunch of peeps over in front of us!

The where’s my beer award goes to Julie. If it gets knocked over on top of the speakers, you can bet it is now far away from the stage.

And the narcolepsy award goes to the neighbors, hope we didn’t keep you up with our music!
