upcoming lkp dates

Now it’s getting hot. Time for the shorts, tees, and whatever else to keep cool on the dance floor and in your favorite mode of transportation. I’ve finally gotten off my duff and sent the pics and schedule updates to our mistress of propaganda, and they should be getting updated in the next few days. I was feeling pretty guilty about NEW Years pics being the most recent, so I got some new ones up there. this past weekend was a hoot at the lovely Electra, and then we enjoyed a Saturday off to make sure we know how to relax. Special thanks to Bobby and the boys and girls at electra for taking great care of us. It’s always a great time, and we’ll be back soon! This coming weekend, as advertised is a Manchester double shot, with the Brimmer tomorrow night and the Yard on Saturday. So we have plenty of dance floor space and all sorts of fun to have this weekend. Come out and have a blast!

After hearing some beauties, I have been thinking of compiling all the misheard versions of Last Kid Picked. So, if you don’t see the one that you know listed, please add to it, and send it back to me. This is always a good laugh, and I look forward to the creative input. We may have a limited edition T with all the choices on it. we’ll just have to see.

lkp upcoming dates

With a weekend off to recharge the engines, I skipped the newsletter again last week. Since I got a couple of mentions that people actually enjoy reading this, I’ll be more diligent about getting it out and making it fun and full of LKP info. The north country double shot that we did in Newport and West Stewartstown gave us a great couple of nights, even considering the slower nature of mud season. It also gave us one of the greatest awards to date. More to follow…

The return to the Rendezvous in Newport (formerly the Lucky Dog) after about a year showed that we have way too many fun friends up there to not play in Newport more frequently. Let’s just say the place was packed, and we probably could have played another set or two, but it was getting late, and we had some driving to do. We packed up and headed for Pittsburg, NH home of the casa de Eric del norte. A couple of nights in the woods would be a nice change for team LKP to do some bonding with nature. Some deer in the yard (a total of 9 at one point) gave us some serious peace and tranquility to a hectic weekend. Then our drive to set up at the Outback gave us our first award-

The “officer friendly” award goes to the Pittsburg police dept. after being pulled over by said PPD, the officer approached the vehicle and asked if I knew why she was stopping me. My reply was I have no idea. Her response was – you are late for setup at the Outback! As it turns out, she and her friends have been known to come out and put on their dancing shoes from time to time when we play up there! also, I had a brake light that was on the fritz, so there really was a good reason to stop me! Either way it was a story for the books, and one to keep me chuckling for a while. Thanks for the laugh and the safety stop!

The best breakfast award is a split. You’ve gotta give it to Bessie’s diner in Canaan, VT for breakfast all day. But, the true find is the breakfast sandwich at the Spa restaurant (above the Outback) for being the biggest, baddest mother of all breakfast meals!

The thumbs down award goes to the tall blonde on the dance floor at the Rendezvous. If you don’t like the song, don’t dance. A thumbs down to the band is a requirement for us to change the words and sing about you. That being said, if you don’t like the theme song from Dirty Dancing, too bad! No one puts LKP in the corner!

And the narcolepsy award goes to the deer, who were sleepy enough to be 50 feet from some musicians in the woods.
