upcoming lkp dates

With April on it’s way out, it seems like it makes sense to finish off the month with a bang.  This weekend is the true start of summer in our books, as some of our favorite summer time clubs start to open their doors and kicking off the season with a bang!  By the sounds of it, this weekend will be the starting gun to a great summer!  Friday night is the official opening of the Anchorage in Sunapee Harbor.  New owners Glenn and Karlie Shaw invite everyone down to try out the new menu, enlarged bar, and a new outlook on goings on at the lake.  There will be more events and cool stuff going on in the Anchorage this year than in many years past.  We’re talking fireworks and LKP on Friday night, and then everything from ballroom dancing to music special events over the course of the summer.  We’ll be involved with as many events as we can, and be hanging out at the crank, ank, skank, or whatever its newest nickname is, as often as possible.  A truly cool summer hangout with a new outlook!

Saturday is our return to our favorite hangout, the Black Brimmer.  The Brimmer is undergoing a fresh coat of paint, and a number of other upgrades to go along with it’s new no smoking policy.  With the state of NH deciding to leave it up to the business owner to choose smoking or non, we are happy to see more and more locations choose non, and we are breathing easier because of it.  We thank the Brimmer, Whippersnappers, the Yard (in the band room) and all others that have chosen this direction toward a healthier workplace for bands and bar staffs.  Our Saturday night special at the Brimmer will be a prelude to the return of LKP on Thursday the 4th of May, taking the Brimmer stage for 2 nights in less than a week.  Come play with us and enjoy the fact that summer is here and the time is right for having fun!

This summer is looking to be a busy one with a bunch of private functions, a number of new clubs, and many great places that we love playing at all the time.  Check out the updates on the website, which should be up in the next few days, with more pictures, links and other items of note to check out.

This past weekend at Whips did not disappoint, with 2 great nights and a ton of happy faces.  The absence of Drew was a little hard to get used to, and we hope that his move to Chicago has been a good one, and we hope to see him soon.  Saturday night at Whips was a total nuthouse, and we love that the staff has such a great time with us.  Although, the latenight antics sometimes slow down our progress in loading out!

The late night fix award goes to the Red Arrow Diner breakfast sandwich, and it’s healing properties!

The hands off award goes to Rob and his purple nurple tendencies!

upcoming lkp dates

Well, the northern tour was a blast, saw some cool stuff, played to some cool folks, and enjoyed some cool temps.  The sad note was the last gig at the official Lucky Dog Pub.  Pete has vowed to have some events with us in various locations around the area so keep your eyes open for LKP sightings.  The outback rocked with some new  and old faces, and we enjoyed some fans traveling up from the south to make it a party.  Always a blast, and always fantastic vittles make this one a peach, even though it’s almost half way to the north pole!

This weekend has us for the Easter double shot at Gusto’s which is always a riot on holiday weekends, and a riot and a half on every other day!  We’ll be kicking it out and then getting ready to put on our easter bonnets for Sunday!

This week’s awards go to:

The cool toy award goes to the Newport resident that owns one of the full size terminator 2 robot statues.  Very cool addition to any theater room!

The timing award goes to me for my conversation with Pete and some other listeners of note…

The cool award goes to the fans in Newport for filling the bar and shutting down the doors at 10:20.

The roller coaster award goes to the road from island pond to the border, holy pot bunkers batman!

The American idol award goes to “screaming Charley Pride” on the corner by the dunkins in Colebrook. Headphones + country music + questionable individual = comedy

upcoming lkp dates!

What sort of comments can you have on a weekend that holds a longtime return to an old favorite, an event called bust and burn, and April fool’s day? I’m not sure if they have a term for it, but it sure was fun!  A great crowd in West Leb, and a crazy crowd in Maine to finish off a fantastic season.  We had a blast with our buddies at Electra, with a slew of old friends showing up to bring back the memories of a packed dance floor, and lots of positive energy, we had a great time, and look forward to the future dates back at Electra.  Our final show at the Matterhorn was not hampered by the fact that this was probably the worst snow season on record.  We played an enormous number of dates for Roger, Greg and the rest of the crew, and we loved every minute of it.  This has become one of our favorite wintertime destinations, with fantastic food, the best regulars, and a ton of fun every time we hit the stage.  It’s a joy to play in a room that has such positive energy, and we look forward to next season with the hopes that mother nature will be a little kinder to the skiers and other snow loving activities, so we can all enjoy some fine trails to traverse!

This weekend is a northern tour.  Newport, VT and West Stewartstown, NH.  This may possibly be our last time at the Lucky Dog Pub, with the landlord pulling the lease on Pete.  Well, not knowing all the details, I will simply say that this stinks, and we’ll be finding a venue to play with Pete in the Newport area, so keep your eyes on the lookout for a LKP and Pete productions event somewhere up there.  We’ve been playing for Pete on and off for the better part of 15 years, and that relationship will continue for the foreseeable future.  After packing the Dog, so to speak, we’ll be off to the Outback in West Stewartstown to finish off our Northern tour.  If you have any reason to head north, come up and play with us.  It’s always a blast, and we’re looking for your smiling faces to have fun with.  Check it all out, and we’ll see you there!

This week, the awards go to:

The jungle room award goes to the Trail’s End motel.  It’s the end of the trail alright, with some questionable décor to say the least!

The Warren award goes to the Dunkin Donuts in Gorham.  What do you want with your coffee?  Franks and beans!

The farmer song award goes to the entire security staff at the Matterhorn.  Borrowed from Carey, enjoyed by all, we thank you for the request!

And the narcolepsy award goes to the earplug company that allows eric to sleep through my snoring!
