upcoming lkp dates

I heard the ad on the radio for our gig this coming Friday, and I guess we are the upper valley’s premiere dance and cover band.  Ok, if you say so.  We’ll take a good title when we can get it.  Regardless of our status on the list of bands that play in the upper valley, we are psyched to be back at Electra this coming Friday, and hope that we can see some old familiar faces along with some new ones out this weekend.

The Brimmer rocked.  Simple, easy and the truth.  There were so many people on the dance floor that I thought they were all moving at once at some points.  Despite the fact that everyone starts out the night with the idea that they are out to have a good time, there are some tendencies to get bent out of shape when it is crowded.  I’m glad that the majority of people understand that people are just dancing and having fun, and that someone bumping into them is not a personal thing, and not to be angered by.  I’m also glad to see that the people who couldn’t play nice with others took their leave and got out of the kitchen, because the heat on the dance floor was pegged on high for the night!  Manchester gave us some old home days to deal with when former bandmates from college Keith and west coaster Andy showed up and made the night a cool little reunion.  Confirmation that my past statements may not have been completely accurate, I will accept my status as the true beeyotch, boys, and thanks for coming out and playing with us!

Saturday night was looking a little slow at the matterhorn, as ski season is winding down, and the snow is starting to disappear.  Our next to last gig at the matterhorn for this season started off a little bit light, and then filled up as we got into the middle of the first set.  The ski bar filled up and was a blast for another night.  The interesting thing was our competition up the hill at the mountain.  National act, Blessid union of souls was playing up the street, and we would assume would be a big draw.  We would like to thank everyone for making us the band to see and the place to be at Sunday RiverMy understanding was their gig was shut down early, and we had all the people that were out to have fun.  We’ll take our packed house this time, and I’m sure that a band with their national recognition will hand it to us on any given night.  We’ll just take our little night in the woods, and be happy with it, and hope that more people come and play with us again this weekend as we finish off the season on april fool’s day at the matterhorn.  We’ll be up and having fun this weekend, and we’ll be looking for your smiling faces in the crowd!

This week’s awards go to:

The water check award goes to Di and Mel for making sure that the “water” at the brimmer was minty fresh and the glasses full!

The long distance surprise goes to Hendu for making the trip and hanging out for a night of fun

The odd request goes to the girl who wanted us to do Cyndi Lauper.  Maybe next time

upcoming lkp dates

Last week proved that eventually Mr. Murphy catches up with you.  It was the leprechaun’s night of failures and forgets that definitely got the best of me.  Despite blowing up a power amp, forgetting the power supply for the computer that has all the music on it, and just generally starting late due to the amp failure, St. Patty’s day was a rousing success at Gusto’s, with it’s amazing folks who came out early and stayed late, and made all the difference in a night that could have been a total wash.  The PA made it through without too much problem, and although we didn’t have the massive lows that we love, it worked.  Thanks to all the gusto’s crazies for having fun with us!

Saturday at the Nail was our first Saturday night on the Rusty stage, and it did not disappoint.  After a blown speaker was taken care of…another day, another issue… the Nail packed out, and was a veritable sea of people.  We had Burlington, Waterbury, Barre, Montpelier, the Upper Valley, etc. all representing at the Nail.  It was a ton of fun, and we thank all the travelers for going the distance and playing with us.  The Nail is rapidly becoming one of our favorites with one of the best bar setups around.  Big stage, big dance floor, lots of seating, great sight lines from all over the place.  You couldn’t ask for much better!  Thanks to Ken and the boys and girls for taking great care of us!

This week sees us back in Manch Vegas for a night at the Brimmer, and the next to last shot to catch us at Sunday River.  The Brimmer tonight will not disappoint, and between this Saturday and next, the Matterhorn will rock this Saturday, and Bust and Burn next.  Finish off ski season with a bang, and see a little Maine in the process!

Next weekend is a UPPER VALLEY ALERT!  Friday the 31st is our return to Electra in West Lebanon, and we need your help to make the return a smash.  If you haven’t been there in a while, neither have we!  We would love to see you all rockin’ out and having a blast with us in the town where LKP started.  So, take a minute, shuffle the schedule and see you next Friday!

Here come the awards:

The boom boom, out go the lights award goes to the Peavey GPS 3500.  with massive deceleration from 3500 to 0 watts in 1 second, it covers the speed award hands down.

The Alzheimer’s award goes to me for being one forgetful fool, and keeping in between sets overly quiet on Friday.

The Man! Award goes to Mick and Russ who set me up with the repairs this week to make it all work this time!

The tackleberry award goes to eric.  Any questions??

The sunrise award goes to all of us/you who watched the sun come up at least once this weekend.

And the narcolepsy award goes to jason, it’s been a while, and he needs it back.

upcoming lkp dates!

I can’t say enough how busy the past couple of weeks have been.  Between gigs, day job and just everyday life, my time in front of the computer has been limited to say the least.  So, without further ado, I’ll get right to what’s been going on with the kid.  A couple of Whips gigs, totally amazing nights with all the fixin’s.  Friday makes a mean salmon oscar, and the staff always treats us like Joe Namath on the Brady Bunch!  Then turn last weekend with the Lucky Dog and Matterhorn.  It always amazes me how many people come out in Newport, VT.  There is a packed bar, with some regulars, but there are always a bunch of new faces as well.  Keep em coming, and we’ll keep having a great time.  Our home away from home in the wilds of Maine is almost coming to the end of the season.  The Matterhorn, Greg, Roger and the rest of the guys and dolls are constantly making us laugh, and keeping us returning to see what will happen next.  If you have never been there, get in your car, and join us at the end of March or beginning of April – it is not a place to miss!

This weekend turns our central Vermont tour with a night in Barre, and a night in Stowe.  Gusto’s and the Rusty Nail are 2 of our favorites, (if you haven’t gotten the memo, we really don’t play any place that isn’t one of our faves)  and rocking out on St. Patty’s day weekend sounds like a great idea to me.  So put on your green skivvies, and rock out with your… well you know what I mean. ;-)

This week’s awards start off with a couple of special ones.  We did a benefit for Ali Wise and her other triathlon buddies who will be doing a triathlon in Memphis.  The event raised money for leukemia and lymphoma, and was a great time.  We were the middle band, surrounded by Beer, Bait and Ammo, and Intergalactic Taxi.  The event was at Higher Ground in Burlington, and was a blast.  The folks at Higher Ground and Ali et al really know how to make you feel like a rock star.  Green room with food, and gifts, and access to the balcony overlooking the main room where the Saw Doctors were putting on an amazing show.  We had a blast and we want you to know it.  Thanks for having us, and we’ll hopefully see Burlington again soon!  In addition to the hosts being great, we had some great fans.  Special thanks goes to Jenn S. for making the trip even though her friends all bagged out on her.  We were so happy to see you there, and I feel bad that we didn’t have a ton of time to spend with you.  You made the longest trip of all of our buddies, and we totally appreciate you and all you do.  You are a dear friend to all of us, and we give you our highest praise, and the gold medal for making the effort.  You Rock!  Our other friends, Amie et al, made us realize that we should be finding a way to get up to Burlington more often.  We’ll see what we can do.  Maybe Higher Ground needs a night with the kid!  Put in your requests, and we’ll see what we can do.

Here are the additional awards:

The patience of a saint award goes to the staff at the Lucky Dog for putting up with some questionable patrons.  We see it, and we think you deserve an award for putting up with it.

The TMI award goes to Greg for reminding me that there are some audio tracks on my computer that I probably shouldn’t have transferred to his ipod.  Well, you get the bad sounding recordings of LKP, along with some great stories, and a few thousand tunes to keep you busy.  Delete, delete, delete…

The wrong place wrong time award goes to us, for not seeing all the stuff that Ross and Greg were doing at the bar.  Body shots, etc. should be done in front of the band!

The obscure reference award goes to all the bouncers and staff at the Matterhorn who come up with some great requests.  We’ll do what we can, but we only know so much culture club!

And the insomnia award goes to Eric for being strung out on red bull, and dealing with my snoring.  Hey, what’s the big deal, I can sleep through it!?!

upcoming lkp dates!

Well it was Maine for the weekend, and let’s just say we had a blast!  Fridays are usually a little bit slower with transitional people coming in for skiing on the weekend, and the less crowded atmosphere allowed us to have some great antics with the staff, and some excellent song suggestions!  The medley of 80’s tunes ranging from culture club to tears for fears, to some real cheese, made for a great night, and got us psyched up for Saturday.  And our second night did not disappoint!  What a great night for cool people, and a lot of fun with only a couple of speed bumps.  I hope that our new friends from Boston will come back and play with us again.  Katie, Alison et al, we are sorry that the overindulgent boys took your dance floor space, and I hope you catch the website so you’ll know we want you and your friends to come back to the North country and have some fun with us again!

This weekend gives us another double shot at Whippersnappers in Londonderry.  It’s been a while since we’ve been at whips, and we look forward to having a blast with everyone.  It will be an excellent chance for all whips hangers to see the changes to the band, since they were our first gig with Eric.  It’s amazing how much changes in a couple of months, and we’re a lot more comfortable with the material as a band, so hopefully the humor comes out more, and we’ll be enjoying ourselves more than worrying about making mistakes!

Here are this week’s awards and lkp math problems:

Beer + boy – dance skills = light controller repair.  Thanks, dude.

Beer + boys – tact and finesse = - women on the dance floor.  Thanks again, dude.

Rumford + cable access TV x guitars and mando’s and singing = great late night entertainment at the hotel/motel.

Greg + ipod + songs on my hard drive = full ipod.  Sorry for all the cheese!

I’m thinking I like the math better than awards this week.  Send us your funny math problems from the week, and we’ll post our faves!

Like – overindulgence + ex girlfriend = free police car ride!

Or,  alcohol – morals = trouble!
