upcoming lkp dates!

We made it through the first couple of weeks with Eric, and things are going swimmingly!  Our first weekend at whips flew by, and it was so busy this past week, that I never got an email out to talk about this past weekend!  Gusto’s and the Matterhorn were both fantastic nights, with lots of happy faces, and eventually some snow after a pretty terrible weather pattern on Friday night into Saturday.  (see awards below..)  We are off this weekend, as I head to the west coast for a little trade show/candy store trip to the yearly music merchants extravaganza.  It’ll be a blast, and we’ll get to see all the new toys in the music industry that we can’t live without.  So, take a weekend off from the kid, and head out to see some other great live music at your favorite watering hole, and we’ll see you back at the Brimmer and Matterhorn on the 27th and 28th.

Despite the cough that always seems to invade this time of year, and all the other stuff that we have to deal with, gus’s and the matterhorn were both great gigs.  It’s always fun to hear the response to the “new kid”, and Eric has been accepted by the regulars that have come out to see us.  I think I heard “we miss bill, but we like the new guy” about 20 times, which is always nice to hear that our past players have made an impact, but our new ones are starting their legacy right off the bat.  Thanks for your great comments, and we’ll approach the old songs that we’ve missed, and the new ones that we need to do.

This week’s awards are….

The foggy bottom award goes to route 2 on Friday night/Saturday morning.  One guy watches the yellow line while the other one checks for oncoming traffic.  Visibility=about 10 feet.

The unbelievable hotel award goes to the comfort inn in St. Johnsbury for great late rates, and cookies at 4:30 am!

Here come the LKP new math awards!

McDonalds + hair net = 25 minutes for my frickin’ breakfast!

12 pack + .275 MHz = Ohio soundman speaking complete gibberish!

Route 4 + tree + rope + LKP truck = LKP tree removal service!  Gotta love a 25 foot, 2 foot diameter tree blocking the whole road! Nice wind!

Snow + rain + wind = early Sunday interesting travel, to say the least.

Flatlander + snowy highway = busy state trooper!

I think that is enough for now, we may revisit LKP new math in the future.  Eric and I were discussing it on the way home, and it looks like an interesting way to approach the unusual everyday occurrences that we run into!  Send us your favorite math problems, and we’ll post the best ones!

upcoming lkp dates!

The white smoke has shown from the Vatican.  God save the bass player!  We have reached the end of the reign of Pope Willis the first, and we now enter the era of Pope Eric the 12th.  (what happened to the other 11?)  Anyway, enough of the tongue in cheek – NEVER!  We say thanks and all the best to Bill as he moves on, and welcome Eric to the Kid.  We are so happy that all has gone well in the transition, and here we go with the new version of the band.

New years was nuts.  Gusto’s was a blast on Friday, and we thank everyone for being understanding on the voice end of things.  The winter cold has been hanging in the back of my throat, and it makes it interesting to sing to say the least.  We made it through, and headed into the lions den for Saturday night.  What a crowd.  Busy, but not too packed, happy, but not too crazy, and fun the whole time.  The witching hour came and we introduced the confetti cannons, and let’s say, we just added to the mayhem that was the floor of the Brimmer.  Holy cow, you’ll get a kick out of the aftermath pix, I’ll get them up asap!

The other big new news is the updated website.  Thanks to Melissa for revamping and improving the website, and adding a bunch of stuff!  Check it out, and we’ll be adding more new stuff as we go.  The history page is started, and we’ll be fleshing that out as we go, and I compile more old data.  We’ll have a little fun with it and archive the 9 years of stuff so that I don’t forget the little details.

This week is Whips, 2 nights, loads of fun.  Spend your first weekend of 06 with the kid.  If you haven’t done dinner at Whips, Friday does an amazing spread and it’s totally worth the trip. (Friday is the chef, not just a day of the week!)  we’ll be introducing a ton of new songs with Eric, so come check out the new tunes!

Here we go with the awards:

The 3 strikes and you’re out award goes to Courtyard by Marriott.  For the third year, they messed up our hotel rooms for New Years.  Thanks for nothing, and get it right – sometime Please!

The cool toy of the night award goes to confetti cannons from discoverfun.com.  For the second year, they are the hit with us, and the bane of the cleaning crews existence!

The backrub award goes to the stage dancer that, um, used unconventional shaking to provide some interesting backrub sensations.  Forget the magic fingers, bring on the magic buns!

The cell hell award goes to the cowboy, good thing we were breaking down the next day when you came looking for your phone!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all who got to recover on Sunday, and keep the couch from running around the house!
