upcoming lkp dates, happy new year!!

Here we go, the last weekend of the year, and two great gigs to roll out with!  We are so happy to have survived another year making music and having fun, and we look forward to 2006 as our biggest year ever.  As they say change is good, but in welcoming Eric Stone as the latest new kid, we also need to say goodbye to a great kid, and a great player.  Bill Edmondson has been with us for almost 3 years, and you have all gotten used to his great playing, his fine AC/DC renditions, and his rock and roll faces!  We wish Bill the best of luck on his future endeavors, and hope he comes back to play with us from time to time.  We couldn’t have asked for a better and more talented player than Bill. He brings so much to the table, it’s hard to choose one thing to be impressed by.  We all thank him for his time with the kid, and we hope to see him out and about as soon as possible!  Not to get all mushy, but usually band changes are surrounded by nasty words and problems.  Thankfully, this is not the case, and we all leave this stage of LKP with our own directions to head, and no regrets.  Thanks for everything, Bill, and we’ll see you soonest!

With Bill’s final gig on new years, we introduce you to Eric Stone, also known as Fish, Fische? Or some other spelling that I am not aware.  Eric and I used to be in the Reactors many years ago, and we are psyched to have him join us.  I think you’ll understand why we like him when you get a hold of his bass playing, singing and equally twisted sense of humor.  We’ll let the man speak for himself as he hits the stage with us at whippersnappers on January 3 and 4.  With a slew of new tunes that come with any band transition, we are looking at about a new set’s worth of material to debut at Whips!  Enjoy the holiday and we’ll see you in January with some new tunes and a few new year’s resolutions to ignore for another 365 days!

This weekend is New Years, in case you missed it.  We are starting things off with Gusto’s in Barre on Friday, and kicking in the new year at the Black Brimmer in Manchester on Saturday night.  Tix are $30 per person, and tables can be reserved (if there are any left) for dinner through Vanessa at the Brimmer.  Give them a call if you need a table, and they’ll set you up for some fine dining, and a night to remember!  We will be sporting some fun toys for midnight, and hope that everyone is ready to ring in 06 with a bang!  Enjoy the festivities of the season, and we’ll all tackle 2006 together!

Last week, I deferred the awards stating that I would have some end of year awards for this week.  I think the awards are more thanks, and some funnies, but here are some people I would like to think of in the closing of ’05:

The ninth Beatle award goes to Bill for playing with us, and being the 9th member of LKP.  We thank him for all he brought to us, and wish him the best!

The crazy bastard award goes to Gord for making it 9 full years and 897 gigs with me in LKP.  Keep counting, they’ll keep adding up!

The young guy award goes to Jason, he’s been with us longer than Bill, but he’ll always be the kid in the Kid- keep the good times coming!

The “you don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into” award goes to Eric, we’ll let him figure it out for himself!

Special thanks for the year go to every club owner, every bartender and wait staff, and all the boys and girls in the kitchens that keep this kid fat and happy!  You guys make us have fun, and that’s what it’s all about!

To Rick, Stew, Lyle, Woo, Artie, Abby, TK, Jim, sticker guy, Chris and all the others that fix us, help us and make us look good!

To Melissa all on her own for making the website happen, and making me look smart with all of her mistress of propaganda duties!

To all of our families, significant others and friends that keep us sane and let us stay out late at night – a lot and often!

And to all of you who come out and play with us.  If we didn’t have people to play for, we’d be hanging in the garage, wondering what to do.  Thanks for your years of support, and we’ll continue to have a great time with you all!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all of us that enjoy new years, take the next day off with pay!

upcoming lkp holiday dates!

Well the trifecta was a success with a couple of strong gigs, and a little icy weather to slow down Friday.  I don’t believe that I have ever seen the Brimmer as busy on a Thursday, with a line out the door, and some serious dancing throughout the night!  I couldn’t believe how fast it got crazy, and the fact that it stayed that way all night.  What a blast!  Friday was a little less thrilling with most people staying home due to the icy roads, and slow travel.  We thank the die-hards for coming out and playing with us on Friday, and enjoying the extra space on the dance floor.  Saturday was a little slow at dinner and we were worried that it was the fact that it was the weekend before Christmas, and that everyone was shopping and saving up for all the cool gifts!  But, the early portion of the night turned into the crazy second half of the evening, with visits from the Texas Hottie, and her cohorts, Mamma shaking it up, and a ton of other familiar and new faces to play with.  We thank all of the staff members of Whips for rounding out our weekend, and taking such great care of us.  Look for us back at whips for a full weekend at the beginning of January, and have a blast with us throught he holidays, here it comes!

This weekend is a single night – tonight!  Sorry for the lateness, but I was not at my desk as often as I’d like this week.  We will be hamming it up at the Lucky Dog tonight, and hope that all our northern friends will come out to ring in the Christmas holiday with us tonight.  As we get closer to Bill’s last gig, we hope that y’all will come out and wish him all the best on his future endeavors.  With Christmas rolling in, we are gearing up for New Years weekend, and it will be a doozey!  Friday the 30th at Gusto’s and New Years Eve at the Brimmer in Manchester.  Consider this a warning for too much fun in the next couple of weeks, and hope that you can hop on the fun bus for the duration.

I’m going to skip the awards for this week, other than the few shout outs above, and call it next week’s project to come up with some year end awards to have some fun.  Check out the dates and details, and enjoy the holidays!

upcoming lkp dates!

Well, it’s trifecta weekend, officially the Manchester world tour!  This will be the first time I think ever that we have had the chance to play three different rooms within a few miles of each other all in the same weekend.  Brimmer, Yard, Whips starting tomorrow night, and we’ll call it the most fun, with maybe some prizes for the die hards who attend all three!  We’ll just have to see what happens.  This past weekend was a northern swing, which brought some fun and old home days for Gord in St. J, and a huge multiple Christmas party in West Stewartstown.  We have so much fun that I forget to take pictures, but there are some new ones, and I will get them updated, along with some new changes to the website!  Thanks to Melissa for constantly helping make us look web savvy, and keeping the site updated with what I get to her.  Please don’t think that the lack of new photos is her fault.  They’re still stuck in my camera until I get some upload time.  Soon, I promise!

As mentioned, we’ll be rocking the Manchester area all weekend, and playing all three clubs that we do in the area.  It should be a blast, and we are totally looking forward to the fun that ensues in each of these clubs.  Come on and call it a tour, kind of like following the dead, but in a much smaller area.  We’ll see if anyone rides around in a micro bus and calls themselves a “kid head”.  Maybe that’s not such a good name for it, doesn’t have the ring like deadhead.  How about the kid army?  No make up.  Um, maybe LFOK – loyal followers of the kid.  Or the international brotherhood of kids – AFL-CIO local #6 or something like that.  Bring back any memories, Keith? Any other good ideas for names, send them along.  Also, with the upcoming transition as Bill leaves the kid and Eric joins the kid, we are in the process of revamping the songs that we play. Any good ideas for ones you want to hear?  Send them along as well, and we’ll take them under advisement.  Gordon Lightfoot requests will be played just to spite the listeners, and Kyle’s mom is a big fat bitch may just have to make it from south park to kid land!

This week’s awards go to…

The late night price drop goes to the comfort inn in St. J.  great hotel, and the later you arrive, the lower the price.  Thanks for the deal!

The additional Lancaster Hilton award goes to Barry for opening his doors to the kid.

The Napoleon Dynamite award goes to Tim for his boot/pant combo plate on Saturday!

The comic relief award goes to Matt, and the one liners were flying on Saturday for sure!

And the narcolepsy award goes to Jason for his long distance driving record this weekend.

upcoming lkp dates!

What a weekend!  We started off with our favorite holiday party of the year, swung south into manch vegas for some serious fun at the brimmer, and then finished off the weekend in Maine with some friends to kick off the ski season at Sunday river.  It was a fair amount of travel, but worth it for all the good times we had.  Special thanks to Rob Gourlay for coming out and doing Friday night with us, yet again proving his amazing bassist qualities, as well as his honorary kid status.  He was all over the place, to say the least, and we thank him for his nuttiness!

This week will be a northern swing, to one of our new faves, and an old standby that has us scraping the northern limits of the US, and reminds us of how cool some of the remote gigs can be.  Friday night returns the kid to the Underground in St. Johnsbury.  This will be our second time to this club, and we hope that you can all come out and check it out.  Tons of space, pool, cool atmosphere, and if you haven’t seen it, you need to check it out.  It’s the new kid in the north country, and we hope you’ll join us.  Saturday brings us to the Outback in West Stewartstown, for some holiday festivities as well as some plain old fun!  We hope that you’ll head north to get your Christmas tree, and stay the night to play with us!

This week has some awards…

The flying wallenda award goes to Rob for his amazing balancing act on Friday night!

The birthday award goes to Mark for Saturday night, I think I saw him for a minute all night! Cheers!

The Red Cross award goes to the Jager girls for Sunday night’s crowd control!

The narcolepsy award goes to all of us for 3 states in 3 days, and some serious crash time after it was all over.

upcoming lkp dates!

Well, the big news for the near future is we are back on at the Underground in St. Johnsbury!  After a rework of things, the owner of the building and the proprietors of the club have come to an agreement, and we’ll be there on Friday the 9th!  So, get ready for another great night there!  No costumes this time, ok?

Thanksgiving weekend was a nuthouse to say the least.  Wednesday night at Gusto’s is always interesting, but this was just plain nuts.  The door was closed and the line started to form at 8:45!  We hope that all of you who waited to get in finally made it through the door!  Major improvements at Gus’s include – no smoking, and some new ventilation to keep the temps a little more within reason.  Thanks to all that came out, and all the great staff at Gusto’s for having a great time with us.  We got to spend some quality time with friends, and the weather was cooperative throughout the weekend.  Friday was about the same, not as crowded, but still a lot of great dancing and fun, and those who were there seemed to enjoy the extra space they had, and used it to dance like crazy!  Saturday returned us to the north country and our good friends at the Lucky Dog Pub.  We always have fun with the folks that come out to see us in Newport, and they keep us with smiles on our faces.  The bar filled up yet again, and the crazy dancing ensued.  We love to see everyone having fun on the dance floor, and enjoying themselves everywhere in the bar.  Even the people who have to go outside to smoke still seem happy even though their habit is being moved out of doors!

This week starts our run towards the holidays, and we kick it off with one of our favorite xmas parties.  Friday is a private event, and we’ll keep you guessing as to who we get to have a blast with!  Let’s just say that after several years of doing their holiday party, that we’re always glad to see it come around!  Saturday returns us to the Black Brimmer, so get there early and stay there late!  We’ll be there with bells on and our hearty cup of holiday cheer, so hang on to your reindeer, Ethel, we’re headed for the giggly weeds!  Sunday is a question, we’re hanging out at the Matterhorn in Sunday River, but I don’t know if it’s a private function, or open to the public???  Give a call to the boys up north and see if a Sunday night works for you to come out and catch us before the snow really flies on the mountain!

Ladies, I have some new items for you to check out in the merch department.  V neck sleeveless T’s in black, 1x1 cropped tops in black and white, and a button down in black that will be the new “formal” kid’s choice!  Gents, we have black flexfit hats back in stock, and some new choices in ladies undies that you might just have to check out.  I have samples at this point, and we’ll see which ones are going to be added to stock.  Keep an eye out online, we’re trying to get the website updated so you can order online with a credit card, and be able to get some fine LKP swag from the comfort of your own home!  We’ll see how long it takes me to get the pics all put together and beg my mistress of propaganda to make it all look sweet!  Sooner rather than later, but maybe it’ll be my xmas present, and we’ll start the sales in ’06!

This week’s awards are as follows:

The new vittles award goes to Gusto’s for their expanded kitchen and menu.  Can you say cheese steak and crab cake?  Check ‘em out!

The secret passage award goes to the new load in door at Gus’s as well.  It’s kinda floating there on the back wall of the stage – Eject! Eject!

The proud papa in a holding pattern award goes to Pete at the Lucky Dog.  Just a few more days, and it’ll be cigars for all!  Hang in there Christina!

The first on the floor award goes to Jaime et al, for racing to the floor, and staying there most of the night!

The last minute reservation award goes to the Comfort Inn in St. J.  With 4:30 am check in, the price gets better every minute!

And the narcolepsy award goes to all who got the chance to catch up on sleep over the long weekend.  Enjoy!
